Beauty Tips For Body Care
I know no one knows the definite answer to my issues, but getting some insight would really help my anxiety towards which path I should go down.My skin is very very prone to getting clogged, it's moderate-severe. I tend to get whiteheads/closed comedones, and lots of red/inflamed acne (especially around my period). Oily T-zone, normal/dry cheeks/jaw. I also have a TON of hyperpigmentation, both naturally & bc I have a skin picking habit I'm working on stopping. My doctor prescribed me .1% Tret, which I'm of course nervous to start. When I consulted with the derm on Curology, they said, "Based on your previous photos and current explanation of your skin, I would highly recommend to keep clindamycin in your formula, as it is the powerhouse ingredient to help with current acne. We could certainly add azelaic acid as well as niacinamide, though if you have a lot of clogged pores and/or inflamed acne, I would strongly advise against the use of tretinoin as it can make acne much worse. And their recommended formulation is:– azelaic acid 4% (antibacterial; reduces redness, hyperpigmentation, and blocked pores)– clindamycin 1% (antibacterial and anti-inflammatory)– niacinamide 4% (a form of vitamin B3 that fights inflammation and dark spots/post-acne marks)So since I'm getting conflicted advice, I am really stressing about which route I should be taking. I've struggled with acne for years, and I know everyone is different, but I'm just wondering if anyone has personal stories that could help me decide. It's so difficult to know what to do.
