[Personal] Am I the only one noticing a trend of showing "real" skin?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I just saw a photo of Kim K. modeling her makeup line and all these people praising her for showing her "real skin." Yes, she has a plethora of pores and whatnot, but that's literally it. I've also noticed a lot of beauty influencers are showing more "real" skin (Tati, Jeffree Star, James Charles) but it's not even that bad. I even saw Floppie Jenner's Snap story of her new skincare products (yikes) and she makes sure to point out hella bruises in the process. It's like they're forcing us to recognize that they're being "real" and "genuine" to the point where it feels fake and not genuine. Like Kim K's photo is pore-y the house, but it's also still photoshopped THE HOUSE and it honestly looks kinda cakey and not v cute imo. Here's the photo for reference.Don't get me wrong, I think it's awesome that influential folks are showing a more realistic side to skin, but why does it feel so pander-y and fake? It's like everyone knows this movement is coming so they're blasting their real skin to get likes and followers. IDK like if you're going to show real skin, just do it. Why do you have to point it out and make a big deal about it?Please don't @ me... I just want to open up the convo to this because I've been noticing it more and more lately. I'm interested to hear others thoughts. *uwu*
