Beauty Tips For Body Care
Here is how I messed up my skin and gave myself fungal acneLet it be a warning story!I love skincare. I try new stuff all of the time. I have a few subscription boxes that help feed my habits. My skin has been so so forgiving over the years and I often got compliments, even from strangers. My skin has been on the oily side so its been a lot tougher in the past but now that I am 30 and oil production is slowing down I have realized that I need to change and be much more gentle. I'm so much in the habit of being so so rough. I love the pristine poreless shiny glass skin and I over-exfoliate. I use a ton of different acid, potions, and acne creams. I pick my skin. I steam my face. I wash too much and with a cleanser that was made for my younger oiler skin.I went from having nice skin to destroying my skin barrier. I didn't even know that was a thing all I knew is that I wanted skin as smooth as a baby's butt! even if I had to sandpaper it to get there.I started looking more and more into what I was doing wrong because my oily skin was becoming more irritated and dehydrated and was not taking the abuse anymore that I had been giving it. It was looking aged and tight and there were broken capillaries, and more clogged pores.I started to be a bit better after speaking to a very knowledgeable esthetician. I started using a gentle cleanser and hydrating creams, things were looking up. I was using coconut oil to oil cleanse and I noticed that when I left it on overnight my skin was glowing beautiful and looking the best it had in years, I did not listen to the warnings about coconut oil because it really was doing wonders for my skin. I couldn't help myself after binge-watching some youtube videos and I decided to buy some very sharp razers to dermaplane at home even though I knew I shouldn't because I was healing my skin barrier. I At the same time there here in Montreal where I live the humidity became very very high and after using the razers and slathering on the coconut oil I woke up one day to hundreds of white pustules all over my face. I continued to dermaplane spreading the fungal acne all over my cheeks and jawline. Thinking I could exfoliate the bumps away! I felt so so bad about myself because I knew it was my fault. I knew better than to be so rough on my skin, I knew better than to use coconut oil on my oily dehydrated skin especially in a very humid time. I also feel bad because I love skincare and I knew all these things and would never suggest to anyone the routine I was doing but I still did it. I felt like I needed results fast and thought that I could literally scratch away the texture. BOY I AM WRONGAnyways here I am now my skin is starting to heal a bit but who knows how long it will take to get rid of the fungal acne and then after that how long for any of the hyperpigmentation to heal. You all probably know better than me but I learned to be gentle with your skin, a million products are not better than a few good ones and things take time. When you watch a hundred youtube videos about a million new products and tons and tons of exfoliants etc with words like glass skin etc, you may think you need them all but you don't! I will stick to more channels like Dr.Drays and real derms from now on not just youtube, and Instagram ppl hyping products, oh and those subscription boxes are canceled.
