[PSA] Took low dose accutane short time. Minimal side effects, but after I stopped I became seriously disabled, still years later. Be aware.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello. I am sharing my story here because i think it should be heard. I know all of you are desperate for clear skin but i just want you to know i didn't think it could happen to me, but it did. i've also talked to so many other people this has happened to as well.I was ok when i took accutane. i started on 10mg, really cautiously, it was all ok so then i went to 20mg. i was ok. dry lips + skin.2 months into 20mg, my cholesterol went a *tiny* bit high. Barely anything but a slight increase. My doctor said it still looked really good (I have very good cholesterol) but to be cautious I took a couple weeks off. I started it again and then tested and it was back to normal.3 months in, I started having a sore knee. It wasn't that bad, like maybe 3/10 on pain scale. I've read of a lot of people on reddit continuing the med with much worse pain than that. My doctor said she doubted it was related since the rest of my body was ok. I went down to 10mg/20mg alternating.3.5 months in my hair was shedding a *tiny* bit...Like 10 strands here/there. It wasn't really obvious or noticeable. I decided to stop since I read stories about hair loss so after a few days of this I quit the medication. After I stopped the drug, 3 months later I developed SEVERE issues. First it started off with tinnitus and blurred vision. Then I developed floaters and my hair started falling out in massive handfuls. Then all my joints started to become excruciatingly painful and weak and cracking. My stomach developed some issues. My muscles over a period of a few weeks started wasting away and became weak. I developed really bad brain fog making it impossible to concentrate on difficult tasks.2 years later, all my issues have only worsened with time. I am 24 years old and i'm terrified for my future. I am in constant 24/7 pain, I've developed brain fog/concentration issues that have made me need to drop out of a PhD program, I am always hurting and my life has become a living nightmare. I am a shell of the former person I used to be and my body just keeps falling apart.I am saying this because the doctor did not warn me that these types of issues could start after i ended the drug, only that side effects could happen when taking it. ive gone to doc after doc and most of them completely deny that accutane did this to me even though I know it did, i was perfectly heatlhy before taking it and this same story repeats itself all over the internet....askapatient, acne . org, facebook groups. so many people are ok when taking the drug and then later on they are not ok after they stop.not telling u to not take your accutane. just know that i was ok when i took it, my side effects were really mild (tiny bit of cholesterol raising, tiny bit of knee pain, tiny bit of hair shedding for a few days) and this still happened to me. Really decide if the risk of destroying your body like this is worth pimples. take care.TL;DR: I took low dose short term course of accutane. Normal side effects on it. Months later my body fell apart. I'm not disabled. Be really careful out there, the docs won't warn you about this and it can happen.
