Beauty Tips For Body Care
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!I hope y'all have had a great new year's, whether you went out and celebrated or stayed home and snuggled on the couch :)It's time for a new year (a new decade, even), and with that comes resolutions. That's awesome, it's great to set positive goals for ourselves. But new year's resolutions typically don't last very long. Were you still working on your 2019 resolution in November? For most people, probably not!So, that's why I started this project! We will try to set reasonable goals that we don't give up on by January 12th, and help each other figure out the best ways to stick to our resolutions and meet our goals. We'll keep each other motivated by checking in throughout the year with the monthly check-in threads. But for now, let's focus on what your resolution is going to be!How to set goalsIf you want to stick to your resolution, make sure it is a SMART goal. SMART goals are:SpecificMeasureableActionableRealisticTimelySomething like "I want to have better skin" is not a SMART goal. It's vague; what does 'better' mean?it can't be measured; when is your skin 'better'?it's not actionable; what are the steps you'll take to get better skin?Whether it's realistic can't be determined, cause it's too vagueIt has no specific time frameTry and keep these things in mind as you choose your resolution. You can also start with a vague idea and then talk it out in the comments to get it to be a SMART goal! I'd like us to help each other with this process, because having a conversation is a really good way of sharpening our thoughts.Be realistic: add kindness and joySetting a realistic goal inevitably involves kindness. It's really easy to set an unachievably high goal for yourself, and to expect yourself to use discipline and strong will to achieve that goal, no matter the cost. That's setting your future self up for failure - because perfection isn't doable. You can't optimise every single day. So you will fail that super high standard you set for yourself, lose motivation, and stop trying altogether. Being overly strict is unrealistic, because it costs way too much mental energy to keep up constantly.Secondly. It's much easier to stick to your resolution if you find a way of making it enjoyable for yourself. Self-discipline can only take us so far! There will come a point at which you've expended your daily dose on self-discipline on, say, getting out of bed, or doing work despite being sleepy, or being nice to someone even though you feel grumpy. So if you want to set future you up for success, make it fun to stick to the new habit! Maybe you get to listen to your favourite podcast while doing your nighttime routine. If you've reached your goal today, maybe you allow yourself a snack, a luxurious shower, or some extra time watching a show you like. That will make it much likelier that you will stick with your resolution. How to participate in this threadShare your resolution, whether you have a super specific one or are still unsure what exactly you'd like to focus on. If you're new or usually a lurker, I understand it can be scary to post a comment on reddit, but I promise you're welcome here! If you're reading this, please say hi :)Respond to anyone who shared their goal - especially if they don't have any other responses yet! Congratulate them on wanting to make a positive change, help them figure out if their goal is SMART and whether it has enough kindness and joy to make it realisticIf you see someone who has a similar goal as you, talk to them about it! Maybe you can inspire each other or share tips :)Share pet pictures? I always want pet pictures!See you in the comments :)
