Beauty Tips For Body Care
I originally posted this in r/Ulta, but just thought maybe it would be better shared here.So I was inside ULTA the other day just looking for some prospective contour palettes I might want to buy, when all of a sudden I'm approached by a sales rep who asks me if I could use some help.I say that I am looking for good contour palettes (likely cream style) that would be good for my dry, pale, sensitive skin. She made a few mentions that included ABH, so I went over to ABH and she followed me. I was looking at the ABH contour sticks when I look up and with her all of a sudden (like out of nowhere) is another lady in some lavender colored top (didn't know if she was an employee or not). The sales rep next to me starts asking me if I like the contour, recommending colors, etc. While we keep on talking about contour and other makeup related stuff, all of a sudden this other lady next to her asks me "What do you do to exfoliate?"I am pretty flabbergasted. What exactly does my skincare have to do with my contouring (maybe foundation but right now)? I just say I use Paula's Choice 2% BHA, which isn't sold at ULTA or Sephora. She then says that the acid could be irritating to my skin and causing my apparent redness (umm, thanks?), and that Dermalogica has a scrub that would be much gentler on my skin (I already find my BHA to be pretty damn gentle). She then walks over with the tester bottle for it, followed by a different moisturizer she also "strongly recommends after exfoliation."She swatches them on my hand and I say "Oh yeah, kinda nice" (I'm really exaggerating, I really do not like the Dermalogica products I've tested). As soon as she recommends I go look at the rest of the Dermalogica selection I say "You know, I am actually not trying to shop for skincare today, just some contour makeup." I just wanted to loosen up the hard-sell grip. And she just blurts out "Oh HOHO! I just thought I'd point out some good recommendations since you expressed some concerns about redness, but that's totally fine!" And then she turns around and makes other shrieky "hoho!" noises while running off, to the extent that other customers were looking. This was my first time inside an ULTA. The door was headed to quite soon after.Just thought I'd share this. I'll still shop with ULTA, but that was fucking whack.
