Beauty Tips For Body Care
It happened during summer vacation. I honestly dont know how to explain it but here goes:I'm lucky to live in a country that enforces a lot of guaranteed vacation days, so I took a full month off for summer, and lemme tell you, I checked out. It was just pool and beach and beach and pool and I forgot about everything, including my skincare routine. Oops right? Except for (admittedly a very good moisturizing) sunblock, nothing went on my face. There were even days that I didn't wash my face! The horror!Except that my skin completely cleared up.I thought of a million reasons why - the sunshine, the dryer weather, less stress, less pollution, etc. But I've been back at work for almost a month now, keeping the same simple non-routine, and my skin is still so smooth.I've struggled with pretty heavy acne and hyper-pigmentation (olive tones, amiright?) since middle school - not huge cystic acne, but the little gritty white head kind - and I've tried so many products - salicylic acid, AHA/BHA, HA, Niacinamide etc, and while some definitely helped, nothing really properly healed my skin. My best friend from college once told me that all she does in the morning is rinse her face with water. I thought that was insane, but her skin was pretty much perfect, so my vacation experience got me thinking that there might be something to it. Now all I do is wash at night with a very light moisturizing non-foaming cleanser and put on some Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse (I still occasionally put on some Neutrogena night time anti-wrinkle retinol cream instead of the face oil), and in the mornings I just rinse my face and apply Bioderma Photoderm Max SPF 50+ lait famille and that's it.I've been waiting a few weeks to make sure it wasn't a fluke. I was sure that once I got back to the pollution (I commute by bike) and stress of every day city life I'd be forced to turn to the giant basket of serums and masks in my bathroom, but I haven't touched them. I even went through a whole period without a giant zit popping up somewhere, which never happens! I'd still like to treat myself to a (gentle) exfoliation and face mask at some point, but just haven't gotten around to it. I'm excited because for once, it will be just to pamper myself and not because I "need" it.There is really something to be said for letting your skin rest, not constantly strip its natural oils and pH balance, and "embracing the glow" as some have mentioned before in the sub. I'm still trying to get used to it, since it goes against everything I've been taught about skincare. But I feel so free now. I even go to work with no foundation now, just some under eye concealer and bronzer! If any of you have had a similar experience, I'd love to hear your story!Products:Morning: Parisian tap water, Bioderma Photoderm Max SPF50+ Lait familleNight: Artisty Hydra-Gel non-foaming cleanser, Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Or, Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair nighttime moisturizer every 3 days or so instead of Nuxe
