Beauty Tips For Body Care
Just a little background - I'm 25 years old now. I've been dealing with acne around my chin/mouth/cheeks since I was a teen. My dad still deals with adult acne so I believe it to be hereditary. No over the counter product ever worked. I also tried adapalene, tretonin, as well as some antibiotics (doxycycline). Nothing worked and my self esteem was at an all time low.I almost started Accutane back in February but had some doubts as to the side effects. Thanks to quarantine and the masks (and living alone), I did my best to hide my face but it kept getting worse. Finally, last month I decided to pull the trigger on Accutane.Basic skin care routine from Dermatologist's advice:-washing face AM (after gym, before work) and PM before bed-using Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser-moisturizing after with Cerave daily moisturizing lotion (blue)-taking Accutane with a good amount of Peanut Butter every morning (Accutane is fat-soluble and does best when eaten with a natural fatty food such as PB)The first week was ok, no change in my acne. I think my body was just trying to get used to it. I could feel my lips starting to get more dry than usual. I've never really been one to put chapstick on (seriously, almost never) prior to Accutane, but now the chapstick is my best friend - I'm applying chapstick all throughout the day.Week 2 was tough. My face was a warzone. I probably got 20-30 new pimples on my face over the course of a couple days. It sucked a lot. My face was inflamed, super dry, flaky, and even hurt a bit to the touch. I cancelled plans I had that week because I didn't want to leave the apartment. But I could tell the Accutane was working though because it was purging my skin. All the new pimples were in my problem areas and seemed to heal rather quickly.Week 3 changed my perspective completely. I've had less than 5 pimples during this 3rd week. My skin actually looks somewhat clear - still dry, but it is getting used to the regiment. I am blown away by the difference I've seen in such a short time. Every week is just going to keep getting better and better I hope.I obviously plan on completing the 5 month regiment of Accutane. I just wanted to give a little quick update here for anyone who was considering pulling the trigger on Accutane. It's only been 3 weeks and my self esteem is back and I feel good about my face for the first time in a long time. It's a process. A lot of us here know how down and negative we can get about ourselves and our appearance. We are our biggest critic. Stay up, stay positive. It'll all get better. Trust that process.tl;dr: I was skeptical about Accutane, but after just 3 weeks I am seeing serious results.
