Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was prescribed Azelaic acid 15% gel in August. I was very pleased to find that within a few days it had almost completely cleared up my closed comedones, and overall reduced redness. It was itchy for the first few days but that improved. It took me about 6 weeks to use the first tube, but around week 3 I noticed my CCs were returning. I chalked this up to environment/hormones and kept going. Fast forward to last week, when I get my second tube. I open it up, use it as usual, and notice my face starts itching, just like it did when I first started using the product. The next morning, my skin was moist, plump, and almost completely CC free. I thought, ohh I bet my azelaic acid lost potency after a few weeks of being opened. I couldn’t find any info online about this though, or in the product info, besides a recommendation to throw out unused product after 8 weeks. I use it again the next morning (I use it twice daily), and I feel nothing. No itching, no nothing, it’s like I’m rubbing on lotion. By the end of the day, a few CCs popped back up, and now, it’s been 6 days since starting my second tube and my face has about 15 small bumps and CCs, general redness, and is basically back to where it was before I even started. Both tubes were well within expiration date, and while I stored the first tube in my bathroom closet, I decided to store the second tube in my bedroom closet away from light/moisture.Has anyone else had this issue with rx Azelaic Acid? I’m hoping it’s fixable because my skin for the first few days was the best it’s ever been!
