[Acne] Has tret ruined anyone else’s skin?

I was recently on tret for about 5 months. I have acne prone skin, but my acne was under control before starting tret. So I mostly started tret for anti aging and the occasional bump. Unfortunately, it caused me to break out constantly in areas where I never break out, which lead me to believe I was not purging. I tried using it more frequently, less frequently, lower strength, higher strength, in gel form, in cream form, etc. Nothing worked.I stopped using tret about 7 weeks ago, and my skin has gone, or is going, back to normal, for the most part. But I am still breaking out in some areas where I never breakout but did breakout on tret.Has anyone else had a similar experience? Did your skin go back to normal? How long did it take? (Routine in comments in case it’s helpful)
