Beauty Tips For Body Care
TW disordered eatingI'm at the tail end of about 10 year history with various disordered eating habits. The past few years my body has finally gotten to a set point, which required me to gain weight. Lately I've been feeling a little self-conscious of how my face looks "fuller" compared to when I was underweight. This prompted me to look at old photos to feel bad about myself, but I couldn't help to notice how much better my skin looks now compared to the height of my disorder!Seriously! It's crazy it turns out (science major idiot here) when you are truly eating a balanced diet, not drinking diet Coke all day, not purging, actually drinking water, and enjoying life, your skin reflects it.On the scientific part of things, I'm curious if my current reduced cortisol levels contribute to clear and healthier looking skin. When I was not eating, stressed all day about body checks, not sleeping because you're hungry, and constantly negative, it felt like I was constantly in a fight or flight mindset, and anything could set me off. I'm also curious if the wide range in blood sugar levels also affected my skin when I would starve/binge.I believe also the increased nutrition, especially fat, has allowed my skin to glow, and hair/nails to grow exponentially. Also now that I'm not spending all of my time working out, crying lol and in unhealthy relationships, I actually have time to care for my skin and do things that will help my overall health, not just reduce weight.Has anyone else experienced the "glow up" once they have started nourishing their bodies? And to anyone who is still struggling day in and day out with choosing nourishment, and are worried that eating more may affect the way they look...it did affect the way I look. Choosing recovery has helped me "age backwards" and look actually alive again, rather than a shell of a person.
