[Misc] Tips that helped my skin that aren’t just ‘SPF’ or ‘drink more water’.

As usual, please bear in mind that works for my skin may not work for yours. But it’s bound to work for somebody other than myself so why not share!Staggering my serums. I never use more than one serum at a time now which made the biggest difference to my skin. I now realise how much of my ‘acne’ was just irritation from too many ingredients at once.Every second night, I only moisturise and don’t use any serum or essence. My skin seems to react much better when I give it a rest from retinol/acid every second night.I indulge in my “naughty” foods little, but often. I have a strong love for anything very sweet and very salty. Since I knew these foods could exacerbate acne, I only ate them on weekends. However, what ended up happening was that my blood sugar would spike because I would over-indulge on weekends, leading to big angry breakouts. Now I treat myself almost daily but in smaller qualities, meaning I never freak my body out with tons of shit food at once and I end up eating less of it because I’m not restricting myself from it! (I’m no dietician though, so take this with a grain of salt, pun intended.)I moisturise 3 times a day. That sounds crazy. But I’m an early evening shower person. I tend to shower at 6/7pm but leave my skincare until 10pm. That meant that my skin was drying out for 3 or 4 hours until I moisturised it. Now I moisturise straight after the shower too, as well as morning and night. It’s made a huge difference, especially with pimples. I thought the extra moisturiser would make pimples worse but it’s done the opposite.I only use one acid. This is probably personal to sensitive skin but, when I was alternating between multiple different exfoliating acids that all did different jobs, my skin hated the variance. She wanted stability. So I cut down to only using one acid that I really like and rely on. It helped me out tons but I imagine some people love using different acids so whatever works for you!Washing my hands between each product. I’m a 20 year old girl, the idea that I could not touch my phone for 5 minutes is unrealistic. I never remember what device I’ve grabbed or what body part I’ve scratched between products so I give my hands a proper wash between each product. Seems kinda anal but it’s helped me a lot and in these Covid times, it never hurts to be extra clean.And lastly. Having a vitamin C packed smoothie every day. I know I know. I’ve heard some people say this is bull because it really doesn’t have that much of an effect on your skin. But I have a vitamin C packed smoothie as my evening snack every day, (lemon, orange, pineapple and mango) and ALL I’M SAYING IS, I really do be looking so glowy the next morning. Maybe it’s my imagination but I swear by it.
