Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey all!I’ve been lurking here for a really, really long time and I thought I’d share my routine and some reviews. I keep this picture as a google slide to keep myself organized and figured it was time to share! Let me know what you think and if you have any questions!Skin type - Combination, Rosacea prone, palest of the pale.Skin concerns - REDNESS, dry scaly patches around my nose and on my cheeks, acne around mouth and chin, preventing sun damage, particularly on my face, hands, and tattoos.AMCerave Micellar Water - Does the job! Cleans my skin before I put on Azelaic acid. It also takes off my mascara on the nights when I’m feeling lazy. Good stuff!Paula’s Choice Azelaic Acid - I was skeptical about this at first, especially with the salicylic acid, but it genuinely eliminated my acne and has already made some headway in clearing away old scars. Very happy with it, and will repurchase.Vanicream Facial Moisturizer - Guys. This is Holy Grail. Stop your searches for the perfect moisturizer, because this is it. I have tried so. Many. things: cerave pm and moisturizing lotion, neutrogena hydroboost, kiehl's ultra facial cream, versed dew point, elf happy hydration, first aid beauty ultra repair cream and none of them took me where I wanted to go. Some were too thin, some too thick. Some were outright irritating (looking at you first aid beauty). But Vanicream, oh my god, so good. It’s thick and moisturizing but absorbs quickly. I wake up with baby smooth skin. It’s got this almost gel texture that I love. Also, it’s 3 oz for 15 bucks, which is a fantastic price imo.Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Sunscreen - so, I’d actually love some recommendations here, because I still haven’t found my holy grail, and I have tried so many different sunscreens. I was using Supergoop for a while, but it’s just so expensive. I tried a few mineral formulas: LRP tinted fluid, which was way too dark, and the Australian botanicals one, which was light enough but stained my eyebrows. Then I switched to the Paula's choice youth enhancing fluid, which I LOVED, but then the nozzle broke off and I had to move it to a different bottle, but it turned yellow within 24 hours and I had to throw half of it away. On the plus side I got a refund for the product, but it really turned me off of repurchasing, especially given the price. This neutrogena one has been okay. I’m not worried about cast, but it would definitely turn someone less pale than me white. I also have to rub it in a bit, which does make me flush a little, though not for too long. Really, I’m looking for a liquid formula that’s not tinted or irritating. Some more antioxidants would be nice too. In the meantime, this works.Side note: I also use the neutrogena hydroboost spf when I’m super active, like for long runs or the pool. It works great, but I don’t want to put it on my face every day.Aquaphor - For the lips. Look, it’s not sexy like a Glossier balm dot com, but it gets the job done. I slather on once in the morning and once at night and I never have chapped lips anymore: take from that what you will. Cerave healing ointment works the same way. I also rub it into my cuticles at night.PMClinique take the day off cleansing balm - I only use this on days when I wear heavy makeup and am showering at night, which hasn’t happened in about six months. It works fine and lasts forever.Cerave Hydrating cleanser - it’s been said before, but I really think this is the perfect cleanser. I can’t add anything else to that.Vanicream Facial Moisturizer - See aboveTopicals Like Butter - This is one of those instagram brands and it’s new to my routine, but so far I’m really, really hype about it. It’s kind of a tricky product, but I think that this has made one of the biggest differences in my facial redness and the scaly Rosacea patches. I use less than a pea size and gently distribute it in a thin layer over my face. Anymore and it pills instantly.Aquaphor - see aboveOccasionalLaneige cica sleeping mask - I got this as a gift and I use it every once and awhile. It’s all right, basically a moisturizer. I haven’t really noticed it doing anything special or making a huge difference. I won’t repurchase when I’m finished with it.Topicals Faded - This is entirely new to my routine and I’m a little intimidated by it. So far so good, though I’ve only used it once. I’m hoping it will help with my redness and scars.BodyAveeno Calming Body Wash - It’s a body wash. Doesn’t irritate my redness or cause any flare ups. Smells nice. Cheap.Aveeno Daily Moisturizing - this stuff is so good. It’s half the reason I have a body section here. I use it when I’m healing new tattoos. It’s also a good middle of the day, my hands are hella dry, moisturizer.Cetaphil Soothing Gel Cream - so cosmetically elegant! This stuff is actually brightening my tattoos! Very nice. I use this post shower, particularly on my elbows and knees.Australian botanicals spray body sunscreen - does the job. I haven’t burned in a long time.Neutrogena Norweigan Formula Hand Cream - Look: I’m a climber. I crochet. And my hands get dry and cracked at the drop of a hat, especially with all the hand washing I’ve been doing. This stuff heals my dry, dry hands and absorbs nearly immediately. It doesn’t leave my hands sticky like aquaphor does. Fantastic stuff. Highly recommended!FAB Aid Oat and Hemp Balm - Whenever I have an allergic reaction or a really bad flare up I use this product. It’s too occlusive for everyday use, but it’s so soothing I always keep it on hand.
