[Skin concern] Retinol gave me greasy skin, uneven tone and worse texture. When I stop it my skin goes to normal.

I am in my mid 20s and I have recently started using retinol serum. In the summer, it was ok and my skin improved after just 1 month. Then I stopped using it for 1 month or 2. Now in winter I started again and my skin reacts worse to it. It gets greasy, reddish, peeling it and looks different. I stopped for a week and it got softer and more balanced. Am I experiencing "retinol uglies" and will this go away or should I stop using it so much? I use it at least 5 times a week. I also use 50 sunscreen, vitamin C cream and CeraVe hydrating cream.
