So a few weeks ago, I had used Stridex (red box) on my neck and there was some leftover on the pad so I decided to use it on my bellybutton and holy crap! So much dead skin and gunk came out on the pad. I had always used a dry q-tip to clean my bellybutton right after shower but there always seemed to be bits of dry and dead skin that I couldn't get off. YUP! salicylic acid will do it.Take a q-tip (or a thin cotton pad), saturate it with a BHA and try cleaning your belly button. Dry with a clean q-tip to absorb any remaining liquid in your belly hole. It ain't clean till your q-tip comes out clear.
