Beauty Tips For Body Care
I love using azelaic acid for the prevention and reduction of spots, reducing hyperpigmentation, and for giving my skin a glow. I've used four azelaic acid products over the past few years and I thought I would offer my personal ranking and score for each four.I've used each product multiple times until it has run out. I've given each product a score, based on price, strength, formulation (how does it feel when applying and what is the finish?), as well as if/what key additional ingredients are included. Hope it helps!RANKINGDermatica Azelaic Acid 20% CreamPaula Choice 10% Azelaic Acid BoosterFaceTheory Azeclear Azelaic Acid Serum A15The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%SCORES / MINI-REVIEW (out of 20)Paula Choice 10% Azelaic Acid BoosterFaceTheory Azeclear Azelaic Acid Serum A15The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%Dermatica Azelaic Acid 20% CreamPrice (for 30ml)1 (£37) - This might be a bit harsh but I feel the price, especially given the size and the quality of other products, is extortionate. It is its single biggest drawback.3 (£25) - An acceptable price for me, but it is bordering pricey.5 (£5.50) - A fantastic price!4 (£20) - An acceptable price for me for something I use every day and is a key part of my skincare routine.Strength (%)3 (10%)4 (15%)3 (10%)5 (20%) - A 5 because, to my understanding, this is the first OTC azelaic acid in the UK offering a prescription-grade strength product.Formulation (how does it feel when applying and what is the finish?)5 - This is an excellent, moisturising cream with a non-greasy finish and absorbs effortlessly. I can't pick up a strong smell.3 - This is not a water-like serum, or even a thick serum. It's more of a creamy fluid. It is moisturising, but not as much as PC or Dermatica, and I find it takes a little longer to rub into my richer skin tone. Non-greasy finish. I can't pick up a strong smell.1 - Oh boy, I really do not enjoy using this product. Its pilling is infamous. Applying this product feels like effort; skincare should not feel like effort. I can't pick up a strong smell.4 - This is almost as good as PC in its application and finish. But PC does feel a little more luxurious.Key Additional Ingredients5 - Includes salicylic acid and liquorice root.3 - Includes green tea and colloidal oat.1 - None, from what I gather.4 - Includes a "superior lipid complex" (a combo of ceramides, fatty acids and cholesterol).TOTAL14131017RATING SCALE1Poor / Not Applicable2Okay3Good4Great5Excellent
