Beauty Tips For Body Care
Throwaway because this is very embarrassing...Long story short, anxiety and depression suck and I'm trying to take control of my self-care. I am going to therapy and taking medication now and I'm taking the advice of my therapist to take small steps to take better care of myself...I have okay skin, use deodorant, and do laundry, so I can maintain a "mask" of taking care of myself (like not looking like shit or smelling bad)...the truth is if I shower once a week it's a miracle. I can usually go two weeks before I can't hide how bad my hair is under a hat anymore and I need to wash it...I have started to shower regularly (once every three or so days) but every time I come out of the shower and towel off there is a LOT of dead skin and I have to kind of scrub it off with my towel. I got a bristle brush and try to scrub with body wash in the shower but it still happens and I'm just red after and I'm afraid the bristle brush might be doing more harm than good.I got something called a "dry brush" and followed the instructions to scrub myself with it before getting in the shower and it seems to help but I'm still having that issue two weeks later. Do I just need to shower more? Or is there something else I should be doing too?Other issues: I think I have "Keratosis Pilaris" on my calves, I didn't even know there was a word for it, I thought it was just really dry skin so I've been scrubbing at it in the shower too. My upper and lower back, and my upper butt, are starting to break out a little bit and that didn't used to happen before and I'm worried it has something to do with my routine. Other than that I haven't noticed anything.Products: Right now I am using orange-scented body wash my girlfriend got me from Body Shop and some body lotion I like from Bath and Body Works. We picked it out together and she says getting stuff I liked the smell of would make my shower routine more fun so I would want to do it more. She was right and I would like to keep using these products for now at least. (I know not to use the body lotion on my face, thanks to this sub, I am starting another face routine and taking it slow to adjust.)Tl;Dr questions:What shower brushes should I be using before and/or after? When do I put body lotion on? Do I dry my body completely first or do I put it on when it's still kind of damp?Do I need to put body lotion on my entire body, specifically my back? I've been leaving out my back because of laziness, is that why I'm breaking out in that area? Are there any other products or routines I could be using to help?Thank you for any help.
