Wound healing - should it be moist or should I just leave it alone?

I am very confused about this. I have heard conflicting opinions from people who seem to actually have a good grasp on skincare. Some say moisture is a breeding ground for bacteria in wounds, some say it instead prevents scarring. I am very unsure.What do you think?
