[Research] The melanin-dispersing part of licorice root is liquiritin. 4% Liquiritin is an effective dose - far better than hydroquinone. What % of licorice root is liquiritin? (I make some guesses)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
The closest answer I've been able to find is that a different compound, glabridin, is the most prevalent and makes up 10 - 25% of licorice root extract. So liquiritin is lower than that. Let's be generous and say it's 10%. To get a topical product with the ideal dose of liquiritin, it would need to be 40% licorice root extract. Quite possibly a lot more.So does anyone know: if there are products with pure liquiritin, or, products with an extremely high % of licorice root? Here's the study for the 4% - "Comparison of efficacy of topical 2% liquiritin, topical 4% liquiritin and topical 4% hydroquinone in the management of melasma""Conclusion Topical 4 % liquiritin is significantly more effective than topical 2% liquiritin and topical 2% liquiritin is also significantly more effective than 4% hydroquinone."http://www.jpad.org.pk/july%20sep%202009/7.original%20article%20topical%20liquirtin%20vs.%20hydroquinone%20in%20m_205.pdf

[Acne] Closed Comedone Purging Emergency; Pls Advise!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey guys, long time lurker here. I take pride in my skin care routine and normally have great skin. But every season, usually right around when I'm either coming or going back to school, I break out in ccs on my chin/jaw line area. I suppose it's hormones/stress/environment changes/etc.I normally used Paula's choice BHA. I'm in between AHA products right now, but thankfully I had some Somme transport pads on hand that usually help speed up the process of clearing my ccs when they act up. They've finally started purging, but the only problem is I have a big event this weekend and my chin is just not looking cute. Everything's all raised up/bumpy/flaky/discolored/etc.Any chance things will improve by Saturday? Any last minute tips on how to speed things along? I have a Tanda Luxe with an interchangeable blue light that I got on sale awhile ago, but I held off using it too much on my ccs because I wasn't sure of the effects. Any thoughts?

[Routine Help] On the hunt for a new hydrating serum
Beauty Tips For Body Care
During the day I use Caudalie Vinosource SOS Serum, which I love. I recently got a Skin Inc. Custom Blend of Hyaluronic Acid, Ceramides, and Licorice, and though I like it, but it's not worth the price. So I'm looking for other serums to try instead!I'm looking for something that's hydrating and also good for redness. Price doesn't matter, but I would prefer to keep it under $75.

[acne] Meet Ted, he's leasing space on my face. (routine in comments)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Ted started as a rather shy dude, which I didn't mind. Then he became comfortable and made himself known. Talk about Linger-er, I couldn't go Anywhere without this guy showing up. Not only that, but his true colors started to show and he was a pretty gross person inside and out. I suggested concealer, but he was like Nah, I'm good. Now he's invited a couple buddies over to "hang-out" and I can't get them to leave either. Don't get me wrong, Ted is a okay guy, but he's over stayed his welcome. This is Ted, and a couple of his buddiesEdit: Suckish Speller

[Sun Care] Still confused when it comes to adequate sun protection under makeup?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have a few questions regarding wearing sunscreen in combination with wearing makeup every day. Do you have to wear a physical sunscreen if you're not re-applying? I also read somewhere that makeup with built in spf with affect the effectiveness of your sunscreen?Currently I wear Face It's HD perfect BB cream which has an spf of 30, along with Biore Aqua rich sunscreen which is spf 50 Pa+++ which supposedly protects against uva and uvb (however, I'm not sure if its a physical or chemical sunscreen). I've liked neutrogena's spf 45 moisturizer in the past, but I'm a assuming a moisturizer with spf isn't all that effective?Ive recently added a BHA exfoliant to my routine, and I'll be adding AHA soon, so I'm particularly worried about daily sun protection.I suppose, in short: How do I make sure my sunscreen/makeup combination is actually protecting me against aging and sun damage, rather than just slathering useless ineffective products on my face? Thanks a million to anyone who is willing to enlighten me with some serious sun care knowledge.

[Skin Concerns] Pocketderm (Curology) just changed my formula and replaced niacinamide with zinc pyrithione....what gives?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been using Pocketderm for about a year now with decent results. I haven't done a new consultation in about 4 months. Today, coinciding with the website change, I got a message from Dr. Satur saying she was changing my formula and replacing 4% niacinamide with 0.25% zinc pyrithione for acne. The problem is, I'm doing okay with my current formula, haven't had a consultation in several months, and I like niacinamide for its anti-redness and anti-aging effects. So what's the deal? Was anyone else's formula randomly changed today without warning?

[product question] alternatives to elta md uv clear spf 46?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I absolutely love this sunscreen! It doesn't leave a white cast, doesn't break me out, and absorbs quickly. Unfortunately, after much trial and error I realized this was the product causing my foundation to melt off my face and patch up on my chin throughout the day. Has anyone else had this problem? I am still able to wear it when I don't wear makeup but I am looking for something with similar ingredients/texture that may not do this to my makeup. I've gone back to my neutropenia ultra-sheer dry touch sunscreen in the meantime but I hate the feeling it leaves on my face! Any suggestions appreciated.

I believe I have a balanced skin profile. I want to get something without the white cast. It should also prevent darkening because I want to get rid of this ugly ass tennis tan I have. Preferably it should have no smell. I don't really know much about the ingredients and chemicals so I can't really judge them for myself :/Thanks

[Acne] Shampoo giving me CC/acne?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have read some about hair products causing acne. I have some pimples and closed comedones along the hair line, especially with my temples. I do have pimples spread "nicely" around my whole face. But it is mainly my temples. So I was wondering what ingredients in shampoo could be causing it?I do not use conditioner near my scalp, so it can't be that? Also try and change pillowcase everyday. Will post ingredient list.

[Product Question][Routine Help] Desperately need a moisturizer for sensitive, acne-prone skin
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Are there any moisturizers out there without alcohols, sulfates or fragrance? I bought the Vanicream cleanser for sensitive skin and I'm in love with it. I wanted to buy the Vanicream moisturizer too but it has both alcohols and ceteareth-20 (which I am also sensitive to). Can anyone recommend a moisturizer that might work for me? I don't really mind ordering online but I suck at returning stuff, so in case it doesn't work for me I'd kinda like to get it from a store. Either way though, I'm just hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks!

[Hair Removal] Those who wax their arms: where do you stop, and how do you avoid a harsh line?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi,My hair grows in straight out (as if I'm cold all the time) and while it's pretty light, I don't like how noticeable it is. I sometimes wax my upper arms, but I end up with very noticeable lines of where the hair starts. How do I avoid this? Is there a way to "feather" out the wax so that there's no stark difference between the waxed and unwaxed area? Also, does anyone else have experience dealing with body hair that grows directly perpendicular to the skin? Thanks!

[Product Question] How much should I dilute tea tree oil?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I bought some tea tree oil from Walmart on a whim since I'm experiencing a pretty bad breakout. I diluted 2.5 mL (1/2 tsp) of TTO with about 47.5 mL baby oil to get the coveted 5% dilution. But I've been using it as a spot treatment for the last few days and it hasn't really done anything. Should I increase the concentration? ...did I do my math wrong? lolI searched through old TTO threads in this subreddit and surprisingly, a lot of people seem to be using it as a spot treatment undiluted. Isn't that terrible for your skin? Or is it only an issue if you apply undiluted TTO to your whole face? Thanks!

[Skin Concerns] Weird colors splotching all over my body?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So, I know this isn't directly related to most of the stuff posted on here, but I don't know where else to turn. My doctor said this 'wasn't a big deal' but said nothing else (and she's been known to lie to me, no I can't get another doctor, it sucks but this is what I get for having meh insurance). My arms, legs, and back have all started getting some weird splotches of grayish skin on them for months now. No matter how often I bathe, they've been there for ages. Most pictures don't show them too efficiently due to my olive skin, but under the right lighting it looks like I'm half zombie. So far this hasn't shown up on my face.So basically, my regular skin looks like this (and no, I don't have any other skin concerns beside this): http://imgur.com/elNXEmgBut my abnormal skin, located on my arms, legs, and lower back, looks greyish-green, looks splotchy, and tends to be contained in random patterns. Like I said, I can't get this on picture because my skin is already slightly greyish, but it has been concerning me and has resulted in a lot of bad self conscious feelings.Does anyone know what this might be from description? Are there any tests I could run to find an answer? Dear lord, why does my doctor suck so much? And thank you in advance.EDIT: in the picture above, you can see something similar to what it looks like on my neck. That long grey spot isn't a shadow.

[Routine help] Mid 20s skincareaddict in need of advice in getting rid of pesky CCs!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi friends! I’m looking for routine advice. The current state of my skin is getting me down and I know Rome wasn’t built in a day, but I’ve been fairly disciplined with the following routine for several months now without seeing results. My main concern is getting rid of the closed comedones on my cheeks! I occasionally get a big red pimple but those don't bother me nearly as much as those little, plentiful demon bumps.AM:Wash with Cerave Foaming Cleanser Olay Complete Defense All Day Moisturizer SPF 30 Sensitive SkinPM:Wash with Cerave Foaming Cleanser Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid Mario Badescu Hyralaunic Acid Eye Cream Cerave PM Moisturizer1-2x a week:Aztec Healing Clay with ACV or Mint Julep masque depending on how lazy I'm feeling OCM with Argan OilAs a sidenote, since I’m only really seeing issues on my cheeks - I've been pretty good about changing my pillowcases as much as I can as of late but with no real improvement in CC's. I alternate pillowcases about every other day but unfortunately am a side sleeper.I’ve heard good things about AHA’s and CCs. I have used St. Ives AHA pads in the past but they didn’t seem to do anything. Any input is appreciated! I'm also interested in finding a new nighttime moisturizer. What are your favorites? (no cerave in the tub please!)Photos (the lighting makes me skin look redder than it is):photo 1 photo 2<3 <3

[Acne] Absolutely Nothing Works on Closed Comedones
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I am so sick of having these all over my cheeks, jawline, neck, and forehead. I swear there's hundreds if not thousands of them and I look absolutely horrible when wearing foundation. They look like this.I've been on Differin 16 weeks, PC 2% BHA and 8% AHA for a year, and Alpha Hydrox 14% Glycolic Swipes for 3 weeks. Nothing has made any improvement, it's just worsened it. I also use the Aztec Clay Mask with ACV a few times a week.My acne is almost completely comedonal, with occasional inflamed acne as a result of one of the comedones finally coming to a head.I've been dealing with this for at least a year and a half and just WANT THEM GONE.I ordered the De La Cruz 10% Sulfur ointment but I'm doubtful that it will work because nothing else has ever worked and probably nothing else ever will.So with that being said, what has worked for those of you with closed comedones OTHER THAN AHA/BHA because while many of you are Paula's Choice worshippers, it hasn't fucking done shit for my face but make it worse.Sorry if this comes across as rude, I'm just so fucking sick of these destroying my self confidence and constantly researching how to get rid of them and hating my skin 24/7. Thank you.

[acne] I don't know how to get rid of the pimples?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'm sorry, but I'm a skin care noob. I'm also 16F which can kind of elaborate with some of my questions about my acne.To give a general idea of what my skin on my face is like, it's oily on my forehead and nose (I have sebaceous filaments, but I found those regular pore strips at cvs to tame it. It's not really bad in the first place). But on the forehead and nose, I never really get any acne. Very occasionally I will get one small pimple on my forehead, but that's it. It's not very oily anywhere else. I don't really get acne anywhere else on my face besides my chin. The only other places I can think of where I can get a pimple is on my forehead or upper lip, but that's actually kind of rare I guess. For me, a breakout is 2-3 pimples, but it's always generally on my chin?I used to have this acne wash that would fix up the oily-ness on my forehead and nose, but my acne on my chin remains the same. I ran out of it though, (forgot the name of it too), and I was gonna wait it out to find what i really need, but I recently had work at a pie throwing tent for a school club I'm in. I got 40-50 pies thrown at my face, so I was kind of in an emergency so I went to cvs and got Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Stress Free power-cream wash. I only washed my face once with it after the pie throwing, and I didn't break out at all. Which kind of confuses me on the chin thing. If I had all that gross stuff thrown at my face, and I didn't break out, why do I easily break out on my chin? I don't really touch my face or anything that could cause that. Could it be a hormonal thing? I'm on birth control but this has been happening before I've been on birth control and I've been on it since last December or this January. Whenever I get a pimple on the chin I'll use Mario Badescu Over Night Drying Lotion, which will make the pimple go away in a day or two, but in the next week and a half another pimple will reappear?Should I see a gyno? Dermatologist? What type of face wash should I be using? The Neutrogena one doesn't really work on my oily forehead and nose and the pimples on my chin, but I feel gross not washing my face. Thanks, sorry if this sounded dumb

[Routine Help] How to incorporate shaving into my SCA routine?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have searched through many threads and found some helpful information but nothing to specific to my situation. I recently started shaving with a DE Safety Razor and /r/wicked_edge recommended routine/products. I've also started a SCA routine during the past few months, because I noticed that I had begun to get some mild acne in my cheeks again and wanted to fix it (It was a pretty dense outbreak and compromised my skin for a month or so but it is starting to heal nicely and I'm getting minimum new spots). I had mild/moderate yet persistent acne and took accutane (80mg day six months. full course), this was my first breakout post accutane and want to continue seeing if it improves and stays healthy before I contemplate a second round of Accutane (prayers that I won't have to lol)My main question is how to incorporate my shaving routine with my skincare routine. Right now, I have and AM and PM skincare routine and I shave every other day with a hot shower and shave in mid afternoon. I think this is too much for my already dry skin, two cleansings/routine and a shave. How would I combine shaving into my routine, specifically the order of application of products? My current routine:AM:Cleanse with Neutrogena Gentle Foaming Cleanser and air dryMoisturize with SebaMed Clear Face Care Gel and drySpot Treat with SebaMed Clear Face Anti-pimple Gel and dryApply Biore Watery Essence UV SPF 50+PM:Cleanse with Neutrogena Gentle Foaming Cleanser and air dryMoisturize with SebaMed Clear Face Care Gel and drySpot Treat with SebaMed Clear Face Anti-pimple Gel and dryI am going to be adding in Stridex pads for exfoliation within the next week or so, I just added products slowly as recommended.Shave Routine:Hot Shower while soaking brushLather Arko Shave Soap and shaveRinse and rub Alum bar across faceApply Nivia Soothing Post Shave Balm for sensitive skin. How would I combine this into my skincare routine so I can streamline my process and not over stimulate my skin? Would I cleanse, then shave like normal and rub alum bar, then rinse and apply aftershave and then apply the rest of my routine (moisturizer and spot treatment)? Or should I apply moisturizer first and then my aftershave and then spot treat? I'm guessing the first but I don't know. Also, where will the Stridex pads go into all of this on the days I shave?Thank you for your help in advance!TL;DR: How should I combine my shaving routine with my SCA routine to obtain maximum efficiency and effect while keeping my mild acne prone skin (cheeks only) under control?

[Skin Concerns] I'm having subcision with fillers for acne scarring in 3 weeks. Did anyone here have this procedure? [Picture included]
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi all! Here's what my acne scarring looks like (and stretched for reference): http://i.imgur.com/NeS8LHR.pngIn about 3 weeks I'm gonna have subcision with filler in an attempt to raise the indentions. Did anyone here have this procedure and are you happy with the results? I know fillers are temporary but the idea of the treatment is that the skin will heal at a higher level while the filler is underneath. Many people recommend lasers but they are better for smoothing out edges and won't actually raise deep indentions like this.I could post the results afterwards if there's interest.

[Sun Care] Recommend me some suncreens.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi,I'm a guy (early 20's) and am looking for some good sunscreen. I am clueless with regards to knowing the best brands. Here are some disclaimers:High UVA/UVB/UVC protection. (Preferably P+++). It should, in general, minimize tanning and sun damage. No white cast. If you're the really pale Irish type, it may blend in. Otherwise, no. I've heard a lot of the European/East Asian sunscreen's blend in perfectly but the U.S. ones typically have white casts (if they block UVA rays). I've had some generic Walgreens SPF 50 sunscreen's (with a tiny bit of UVA protection) and they have a very nice lotion-y feel.Relatively cheap! Not one ounce for $10, but 8 ounces for $10-15 would be nice. Please link the amazon pages to these ss if you want to recommend them. thanks!

[Skin Concerns] Dark-skinned people of SCA, how much of a difference (if any) has sunscreen made in the appearance/health of your skin?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello /r/SkincareAddiction!As you may have guessed by now, I'm dark-skinned. Anyway, my light-skinned partner uses sunscreen religiously (every 2 hours) and always tells me that even though I'm dark-skinned and have never been sunburned before, I should still use sunscreen because my skin is just less prone to damage.Anyway, I know she's probably right but an unfortunate trait of mine is vanity, and if I can get a few success stories from my fellow dark-skinned people here that involve actual aesthetic improvements to skin as a result of using sunscreen, I know I'll be a lot more likely to use it.

[Skin Concerns]. There is a lot I want to improve about my skin and can't see a derm for some time. What can I do in the meantime?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
First, a list of my complaints. It may sound extensive, but I don't think my skin actually looks that bad. In fact, people are still praising it a good deal, but I just can't be satisfied with it as it is.Disclaimers: I also don't use makeup. If I did, I would feel like I'm just hiding my flaws rather than removing them. Also, I don't have that much to spend right now but I will note any recommendations for the future. My skin type seems to be oily (as shown by my large pores and typical softness) but also extremely sensitive. I don't have any known allergies however. Finally, I am aware that my standards may seem very unrealistic, but I do feel like I used to meet them without even trying before I was hit by massive stress and a worsening of my insomnia. I don't feel like my skin looks as good as it used to.1- A few birthmarks spread around my body. The most notable is under my mouth. They all look like small brown or red spots. I don't think these will ever go away by themselves but what can I do about them? I feel like they really spoil my appearance.2- Large pores on my nose and cheeks. I think this might just be due to my oily skin, but they're noticeable enough to bother me. I have heard it's not really possible to get rid of them but one can reduce their appearance, which is probably good enough.3- Not much acne at all most of the time, fortunately. At least half of the time I get something that looks like acne on my face it just turns out to be a bug bite. That said, I do have something that looks like a couple of very persistent acne pimples (maybe folliculitis or something?) on my back and butt, though some of them seem to just be dark marks now with no actual skin bump at the location.I also do have some tiny flesh-colored bumps on my face, remnants from my last breakout I guess. They're hard to see at a distance but they can be felt.4- I have the worst dark circles under my eyes. They are the most easily visible flaw on my face. You can just see blue veins very easily in that area, and veins are easy to see in my body as a whole. Apparently visible veins are not to be expected when you're pale and skinny. I'm trying to fix the skinny but failing.5- I just can't stop touching my face. When my skin is good, I like to touch it to enjoy the smoothness. When my skin has some problem, I feel the need to touch it from time to time just to check how it feels. It also just feels itchy a lot of the time and it can get a bit hard to concentrate on other things if I don't try to make it itch less. That said, I don't scratch, squeeze, or pop anything. I just feel things up with my fingertips. My current idea to deal with this is to buy tissues and use those to touch my skin instead.6- I have light skin and dark hair. I end up with tiny black dots on my skin after I shave, even if it feels smooth to touch. I think it may be that the growing hair may be visible from under the skin.I have heard waxing can fix this for some people but I fear that my skin may be too sensitive for it and could end up reacting very badly. The other hair options are long-term and expensive as well. Is there anything I can do to make these dots disappear so that my skin will actually look as smooth as it feels?7- I think I might have seborrheic dermatitis. Starting sometime last month the skin around my nose has been red, rough, and flaky if it has not just been moisturized. I probably do need a derm for this one though.8- A tiny air bubble on the back of my right leg. I don't know what it is exactly but it has been there for at least a year and I don't think it's going to disappear on its own. I probably should see a doctor about this one too but what do you think it is?I have a number of products in here, but right now I cut back on my routine and am doing only like, the bare minimum I guess:Avene Cleanance Gel - Soapless Cleanser (twice a day). Tree Hut Shea Extra-Rich Moisturizing Lotion (twice a day). Clean & Clear Continuous Control Acne Cleanser (5% benzoyl peroxide, once a day, on my rear). Banana Boat Sport Performance Sunscreen Lotion (30 SPF, supposedly lightweight, fragance-less and non-greasy, used when I go out, which is rare).Additionally, I recently got my hands on some products to exfoliate with. G.M. Collin Active Exfoliant Powder and G.M. Collin Hydramucine Cream-Mask (supposedly to protect and moisturize afterwards). I haven't tried them yet because the day I set for exfoliating in my schedule has not arrived yet, but it seems to be a chemical exfoliant with salicyclic acid. Besides that, I am also waiting on an order of African black soap, which I hear works wonders on certain skin types when used correctly.Apart from this, I also started employing some lifestyle changes and DIY methods.I:Avoid sunlight as much as possible and wear thick dark clothing and sunscreen when I go outside, which doesn't happen much. I also use a parasol for added protection. I have been avoiding the sun as if it would kill me for years.Stopped eating dairy, white sugar, and white bread. I frequently eat salmon, macadamia nuts, almonds, and vegetable stir fry cooked with coconut oil. The stir fry is usually a combination of at least two of the following: tofu, onion, broccoli, carrot, asparagus, seaweed, green onion, red pepper, mushrooms, zucchini spinach and cabbage.I pretty much only drink 1-3 glasses of orange juice and 1-4 water bottles (500 ml) a day. Sometimes I also drink soy milk or something but I stay away from actual milk, soda, caffeine, and sweetened fruit juices. I might give unsweetened green tea a try if you all think the benefits outweigh the caffeine in it but I'll probably just have to read a lot more about it.I sometimes apply whole milk or raw honey to my face. The milk in particular seems to leave me very soft and smooth immediately after wiping it off.I recently started using small amounts of coconut oil on my face. It seems to moisturize it very well, especially the dry spots that might be due to dermatitis. I also apply it to my hair some time before showering, with good results. I only started recently so I still don't know if it will plug my pores much, but so far it hasn't given me problems.I have a physical disability that keeps me in bed a lot of the time, but I recently started to push myself to exercise a bit. I can't do much before I start feeling ill, pained, and exhausted, though. I really hope I'm doing enough for it to benefit my skin but with how little I'm doing I'm not really sure.As for the stress, I just don't know how to handle it. I have been diagnosed with depression and have a tendency to simply start worrying about everything even when nothing that bad is happening at the moment. I know very well that other people either think my skin is great or just don't care much about that sort of thing, but I feel like I have to do better.I don't drink alcohol, smoke, or do recreational drugs. I never have.To avoid damaging or drying my skin and hair, I take lukewarm baths on Sundays (using salts and bath milk) and mildly-warm-to-cool showers on Tuesdays and Thursdays. And finally, I have a mean case of insomnia. I find it hard to sleep at night, and when I do sleep, I always seem to wake up much earlier than I want. It's not easy for me to get the recommended 8 hours of sleep a day, and my sleep debt is probably enormous by now. I worry about what this might do to my skin.P.S. I think I might have Body Dysmorphic Disorder. I mean, by this point I have had nightmares about having ugly skin and have made efforts to stop smiling out of fear that it might cause facial wrinkles, so...

[Skin Concerns] Help with small zits on cheeks!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi guys,I have always taken good care of my skin and have rarely had a problem besides the occasional hormone related breakout. However over the last few months I've been dealing with tiny red blemishes on both cheeks. I have never broken out there before, and they're almost too small to be pimples - they rarely come to a head but they are raised.I have combination oily skin and use Clinique's combination oily 3-step day and night, which has always been a great fit for my skin. I usually follow that up with moisturesurge and about 50% of the time (I know, I'm the worst) I use cityblock. I have been militant about making sure my pillowcases are changed regularly and they I've been sleeping with my hair up to minimize contact with zit germs but it's still happening with a vengeance! Any guidance would be most appreciated. Also this is my first post on this sub so please forgive me if I've violated the rules in some way!

[Product Question] What ingredients in Clinique DDML+ would exacerbate redness?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I was a faithful user of Clinique DDML+ for about two years. Hands down best moisturizer I've ever used, but over the past few months I realized that it was making my redness worse. I've looked at the ingredients list several times but I'm not sure what ingredient could cause that, as I'm hoping to avoid it in future moisturizers. TIA!

[Acne] Esthetician acted like I was crazy for using salicylic acid every day.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I got a facial as a gift, and when asking about my routine the estethecian acted like I was crazy for using salicylic acid every day saying things like "Doesnt your skin get irritated?", "You should use glycolic instead and just spot treat with salicylic", "you're making a layer of dead skin on your face from using it". 1st, I've had acne since I was a teenager, which I told her, and salicylic is always what has helped. 2nd, you always have layers of dead skin. I just wanted to see what much more knowledgeable people thought about this. At the end of the day it was a crappy facial and my nose was bruised for a week so I'm not sure why I keep thinking about it.

[Skin Concerns] Does UVA penetrate through clothing?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
With all the sun related posts lately, it got me wondering if UVA penetrates through clouds and glass, does UVA also penetrate through clothes? I mean, intuitively I wouldn't expect it to do so but if UVA is still a concern when it's cloudy then I just want to make sure it doesn't go through clothes too, preferably with some kind of scientific evidence. So does anyone know?

[Misc] Re-starting my journey against acne, found a great app!!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I swear they didn't pay me to do this, but last week I was prescribed Epiduo and decided to look around the internet (and here) about opinions, side effects and stuff. I landed on their website, saw all the tabs and videos, and then I saw, they have an app! It's design is a little old IMO, but it's basically a diary for your face, it has reminders to take a selfie everyday, and then you can compare different pictures or make a little video with all the photos toguether.I love being able to keep track of my life, so I absolutely loved this. I hope some of you find it useful too!

[Skin Concerns] How can I minimize my sebaceous filaments? OCM and BHA products have not worked.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have prominent sebaceous filaments all over my nose and I'm now more conscious of how noticeable they are. I've searched for answers before on google and this subreddit, and the usual responses are recommendations to try the oil-cleansing method or use a BHA product. I've been using hemp seed oil as part of my routine for over four months, as well as using a 2% salicylic acid gel on my nose once a day for about three months or so. None of these things have helped minimize the amount and appearance of these buggers. What is my next step here?

[Skin Concerns] Pimple above my lip turned into a painful open sore with white dots in it
Beauty Tips For Body Care
The title basically says it all. I had a deep pimple/cyst right above my upper lip, and it popped last week. The area has stayed red and inflamed, and today I realized there are white dots on it. I've been treating the area with Finacea cream, but the sore is still there, if anything, it's gotten worse because I definitely didn't notice white dots in it when it first popped. I'm not sure if it's pus trapped in there still, or something else. Has anyone seen this before? any ideas on how to treat it? I considered trying to extract the white dots with tweezers but they're honestly too small to grab with even my sharpest tweezers, and I don't want to deepen the wound.http://i.imgur.com/Ghzi3tw.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/ADnC7la.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/08f6kFB.pngThanks!

[Product Question] Can the silicone in a primer be used to treat acne scars?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Has anyone had any success in using an alternative source for silicone to treat acne scars? It's been proven effective, especially silicone sheets. But I noticed this primer has silicone (dimethicone crosspolymer) as the second ingredient. It would be nice to kill two birds with one stone but I haven't heard of primer (or other makeup) used this way. I've even heard silicone in makeup being irritating. Any experiences with this?

[Acne] Product suggestions for a bride to be on body acne.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Seriously, I have no idea how tags work. If I screw it up, could someone explain how to tag?I'm getting married in about 8 months and I have back, shoulder and chest acne. I feel like I need to get a handle on this now as my dress is revealing in the back and the front (much to my mother's dismay).I don't have a current routine for my body. I don't feel like I have any other skin concerns in the area aside from the acne. Although I do seem to have big pores on my breasts, large pores for large boobs? The acne is not excessive, but its enough that as a bride I want to look as good as I can on our wedding day. And sure, I can cover up with makeup, but why conceal if I don't need to.I don't have concerns about price tag. I'd rather not drop $100 on something, but at this point I'd add it to a suggestion list as I've dealt with acne since my teenage years. Also we just had a dermatologist open up and be available in my city for the first time this past month. They apparently are only in this office two Friday's a month? Hopefully they will expand if the need is here. I'd like to maybe visit them if I don't figure something out over the counter in the next few months. Please let me know if I need to add any additional information. Thank you so much in advance!

[Product Question] Does the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay expire?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've had the bigger jar of it for 3 years now I think (it's impossible to use up since I'm lazy about mixing it and resort to sheet masks a lot). Since it's dry clay and it's been tightly closed in a dry, cool area, I'm pretty sure it's fine to use... But before putting it on, I wanted to see if anyone else has had bad reactions to old jars of the stuff. Thanks in advance! :)

My big concern is how my bangs will affect my forehead. I know I will need hairspray to hold them in place, but I have very sensitive skin. Can anyone recommend a hairspray that won't break me out?I live in the US and would like something mid-range or lower in price.

[Routine Help] I really need help. (Redness and razor bumps)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I used to have acne. The zits would come and go but the redness would stay. I swear to god my face has the redness of pimples from my freshman year of high school. I currently exfoliate twice a day and use salicylic acid wipes. The second problem is that I have outrageously thick, girthy facial hair. I don't have a lot of facial hair but what I do have doesn't shave easy. I only really shave my chin and mustache area, but still. When I shave, I use a brush, a small pot of shaving cream, and a safety razor. I shave with the grain. Whenever I shave my chin I get razor bumps. No exception. I use bump control (I even use it twice a day, as recommended on the box for severe cases). Each morning and night I do the following:Use exfoliating scrubUse cleansing and skin strengthening scrubUse salicylic acid wipesUse lotionWhat else can I do?! I've been doing this for a year and I can tell my skin is in better shape, it is cool, clean, and is very smooth and healthy. It is still covered in red dots on the cheeks and large, swollen razor bumps on the chin.

[Product Question][Acne]Has anyone used the Body Shop's Tea Tree line for lightly-acne prone skin? Newbie looking for a starting point.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My (24F) skin has always been a bit acne prone. I'm currently on Doxycycline(sp?) to help clear it up as prescribed by my GP. A few years ago I did a 6-month accutane run, and didn't have any problems until recently. I'm realizing that I'm not getting any younger, and want to start a skincare regime.I've recently picked up the tea tree line from the body shop, including:Makeup WipesCleanserTonerMaskNight SerumAs well as a seaweed day cream.I'm noticing some really painful zits on my forehead unlike anything I've had before, though I've only been with this regime for a few days. I'm looking for advice on those, and experiences from more knowledgeable people who have used the tea tree oil line.EDIT: As well, I'm looking for an ideal "routine" to follow! I'm so new to this, and everywhere I go, there's different info. I'm late to the skin care game!

[Routine help] Skin fine in the AM but dry by afternoon (making foundation look patchy and flaky)
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Never posted here before so sorry if this isn't in the right place!I'm looking for help with my routine. I just recently started wearing foundation daily (used to go mostly bare with either just under eye concealer or tinted moisturizer/bb cream). I have the most temperamental skin.. always seems part dry, part oily, and prone to mild breakouts. I've started wearing Tarte amazonian clay foundation and I love it, but unfortunately while it looks wonderful in the morning, it seems like my skin is dry (especially around nose and cheeks) by afternoon and up close my foundation looks patchy and icky. :(So my questions are-I'm currently using Cerave AM facial moisturizing lotion with sunscreen- do I try the Cerave in the tub? I know a lot of people here love it, but I've also heard horror stories about it causing breakouts. If I do decide to try it, how do I spot test? Just pick a spot in my face and use it there for a week?Do I need to wear a primer with my foundation? I have one (Lorac's I'm So Sensitive), but I only really use it if I'm going out at night on the weekends. I'm too lazy to use it for work- do I need to suck it up and use it daily?Any other tips? My current routine is as follows- splash with water in the morning and tone with witch hazel (alcohol free). Moisturize with Cerave AM lotion. Apply makeup. At night, cleanse with OCM (castor, grapeseed & tamanu oil). Tone again with witch hazel. About once a week I use Alpha Hydrox 10% glycolic AHA gel.Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty new to skincare so I'm sure I'm missing steps or some tricks :)

Also before anyone refers me to /r/wicked_edge, I'll just mention that I'd really prefer /r/SkincareAddiction's advice because it tends to be less anecdotal. I love /r/wicked_edge but when it comes to issues like this I've noticed the advice here is much more effective (in my experience).

[Sun Care] Does white cast serve a function?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I think I've found my HG sunscreen (the Bioderma Photoderm Max 50+ that other others have reviewed on here), but it does leave a slight white cast. What I can't figure out is what that means. Does more of a white cast mean it's getting better coverage? Is it only getting enough coverage where there is a white cast? In my mind, I can see it going either way - either a white cast means there's too much product globbed up, or a lack of white cast means there's not enough product. The white cast seems to be there whether I use less or more than 1/4 tsp, so there doesn't seem to be a linear correlation amount of product and amount of cast. And finally, if I wait for it to "set" and then blend it with my fingers, how do I know I'm not just rubbing it off?TL;DR: is white cast a sign that sunscreen is working, or a sign that I haven't blended enough?

[Misc] Adding info about Closed Comedones to the wiki?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've searched the sub for comprehensive info about closed comedones, but I haven't been able to find anything substantial. Even looking elsewhere, gathering relevant and reliable information has been a challenge. This is the closest I've gotten via Google Scholar. From what I've gathered from my time in this sub is that CC can be caused by a reaction to an ingredient and to treat it with chemical exfoliation, primarily AHAs.Is there too little info to add this skin concern to the wiki, or is that just all there is to know? Please let me know if I'm missing the big picture!

[Skin concerns] NSFW Painful lesion on outer labia
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have a very strange lesion on my right outer labia. I went to my university health clinic to get tested for herpes and other STDs and they all came back negative. I have an appointment for a dermatologist but they couldn't see me until another 2 weeks from now. I was wondering if reddit has seen this before. It's a pretty deep crater, very sore, and there are white dots in it and also small deep holes (pores?) Photos are NSFW because of the area of the lesion.http://i.imgur.com/61OqbAu.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/XjijsxM.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/y34KDgv.pngThank you!!!

[Review] Hydrocolloid Comparison
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Target up&up vs CosRx:I stopped by Target on the weekend on picked up their brand of "Advanced Healing Blister Bandages". The CosRx ones are cut in small circles -- the largest ones are the ones I prefer. I can barely do anything with the small ones. The CosRx ones are thinner so you can see the oil on the bandage a lot easier (read: more satisfaction). The Target ones cover a bigger area and are thicker. I think the CosRx ones could probably be worn in public without too many looks. The target ones (big rectangular bandages) are a lot more visible. Because you can't really see the oil, I was skeptical of them working. However, they seem to work about the same. The Target ones leave more of a band-aid residue on your skin than the CosRx (but they stay on easier). If you don't want to spend time cutting things, get the CosRx. If you just wanna try a hydrocolloid or have larger pimples than 1/2 cm diameter, get the Target ones. I'll be searching for different (US) drugstore brands in the future to test out.(Side note: sorry for short sentences and possible grammatical errors. I've been snuggling up to a bottle of Beaujolais today.)

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Basically the title. I used to deal with oily face forever and now my face is getting flakey. What sucks is that it looks great compared to during Spring/Summer until you get close enough to see the flakes.I switched my CeraVe Foaming Cleanser to the Abolene Moisturizing Cleanser that I used to use a while back but now its just making my face look greasy and I don't think its doing a good job at all.Do you guys know what I should get to combat this? I think I might have that thing where you are oily in half the year and dry in the other, despite this is the first time its happening.

[Acne] Started working at a medspa and tried a bunch of new things and now I'm breaking out like crazy.
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So I just started working at this medspa about a month ago and was given Obagi product to use and I also started getting some Lipo-MIC/B12 shots. I even tried their mineral makeup line. If I'm going to be selling these things I might as well try them myself, no? Well now I'm getting a bunch of tiny breakouts on my forehead and on the sides of my face. Since I've tried so many new things I don't know how to pinpoint what's causing it. I'm just thinking about stopping it all and going back to all my drugstore products that barely caused me to ever breakout. Anyone have any additional advice on how I should treat these breakouts? Because Obagi is just not cutting it.

[Acne] Post-partum hormone crash and acne
Beauty Tips For Body Care
My baby is 4 months old and I think I'm starting to hit the hormone crash, including hair loss and skin issues. Although my Pocketderm prescription has been working, I'm breaking out a lot around my mouth and on my chin (hormonal). I'm also sick, so the constant nose-blowing has been irritating the area as well. How should I approach this? Gently (suggestions???) or with 2.5% BP? I know BP will clear it up, but it also makes my skin very raw.Anyone have experience with the post-partum hormone crash? Thanks!

Having 8-12 weeks of red, peeling skin seems really not worth it given I have very little acne, but I kinda want to be doing everything I can to look like Helen Mirren when I'm 70. (I also have unevenish skin tone because I never used to wear sunscreen, sigh)Do low % serums (say, 0.5%) do any good, or is that just a waste of time/money?

(I also have unevenish skin tone because I never used to wear sunscreen, sigh)Do low % serums (say, 0.5%) do any good, or is that just a waste of time/money?

[acne] bye bye closed comedones! if you didnt like glycolic acid, try mandelic
Beauty Tips For Body Care
being stupid, i tried and tried again to love paula's choice AHA. probably mostly because the BHA liquid worked so well for me!! however no matter how much i tried to like them, they came with insane itching/stinging on my face and an unpleasant texture, smell, and taste. worst of all, there was no improvement in my skin texture whatsoever. i think it broke me out too, but i can never be sure with my acne prone skin if its just another bad day or im actually reacting badly.eventually i decided i hated glycolic acid. but i still desperately needed AHAs as my closed comedones on my forehead and my mouth area would not budge, no matter how much BHA i used. id been doing research before and mandelic seemed quite promising. i considered lactic, but for some reason i felt like mandelic might be more effective, idk, it was just an arbitrary choice on my part tbh.well anyways, within less than a week of using mandelic, the closed comedones have CLEARED UP!!! I bought the MUAC 20% toner, you can get a really cheap 1oz sample sized one to try out. the only con is that it feels like youre putting straight alcohol on your face, as mandelic works best when its in alcohol apparently, so if youre not about that alcohol life mandelic will not be the greatest. i feel that the slight dryness is a small price to pay for its benefits haha, but that is a caveat.my skin is not perfectly smooth yet, but this is the best it's been in more than 8 years. i struggled with bad cystic acne in high school (so bad that i decided to PAINT it senior year) which cleared up right before i left for college, but acne never really left me. i always had few or more big pimples here and there and my forehead, cheek, and mouth area was just closed comedones city. now, i LOVE running my hands over my right side of my forehead and left cheek, because they are sooo smooth (they have always been kinder too me, but right now they feel SO GREAT!!) and even if some bigger pimples pop up i have found that i can make it go way with minimal resistance in a few days with my actives.i wish i had discovered skincare earlier when i was in high school so that i wouldnt have acne scars, but im doing the best to remedy it now. i really feel like i know how to manage my skin now. its a sense of control i've never felt before when dealing with my skin. and having recently discovered that mineral foundation works wonder to minimize the visibility of my acne craters (i.e. ice pick scars) on my face, i am on the road to something greater. so another FYI, if you feel that even the lightest of liquid foundation makes your skin texture look even worse like i felt it did, try mineral!!!anyways, all of this to say mandelic worked for me to clear my closed comedones while glycolic sucked dickbutt and possibly made it worse. the end

[Skin Concerns] So what's up with petroleum jelly?

I've heard conflicting things about Vaseline. I used it on my lips last night but they feel a little weird today. I think I read somewhere here that I should use it on my dry skin but I've also heard that it might not even be that safe.So which is it? Safe or no?

[Acne] I was at my OBGYN and asked if I could have my hormone levels checked. She only wanted to check my Testosterone. Should we have tested other hormones too?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've had some acne for a couple months on my jawline and neck, so while I was there (for different reason) I asked about having my hormone levels tested. She asked if I've noticed above-average hair growth on my upper lip for example - I haven't noticed anything like that.I thought Progesterone had a lot to do with acne, but I'm no doctor. My Testosterone level came back normal.

[misc] When you find a good routine, don't feel like you have to mess with it!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I don't have before and after pictures, but in just 3 days my skin is completely different. I had a had a good routine going for about a year and a half and then would read things on here and want to try them out. I also got samples with my pocketderm the one time I ordered it and started using that face wash. For my easily irritated skin, changing things up was not a good plan. All summer I was battling acne. It wasn't big breakouts, so I thought the stress I was under was the main cause. Then j tried a new sunscreen - I saw La Roche Posay at Walgreens and just had to try it, even though I know I should do only physical sunscreens. I don't usually wear make up, but the sunscreen made me so shiny that I wore powder daily. A combination of all of these culminated in me getting very large and incredibly painful pimples. As soon as one went down, another would crop up. I was done. I went to target and got my old sunscreen and my old face wash and went back to that very first routine I had, and my face is so happy! And I am too, because I'm going to a wedding this weekend and am myself getting married in January and will not be having my make up done professionally. Anyway. I just wanted to share my story and say that even though trying new things can seem fun, it's not worth it if you know your skin is sensitive to those changes; and if you notice changes in your skin, even if you think it's been long enough that it wouldn't be the new product, try switching back and see if that helps. Here is my routine now: Morning: Rinse with warm water Witch hazel all over 1% clindamycin prescription CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion CeraVe sunscreen ("face lotion" spf 50)Night: CeraVe foaming wash St. Ives gentle exfoliating pads (I bought a ton before they went extinct.) CeraVe moisturizing lotion Spot treat if needed with salacylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.

Hi SCA!I have some remnant bumps on my skin from a cystic breakout two weeks ago. They never came to a head, but they don't hurt anymore. [Product Question] - Which moisturizer do you use? ( Oily skinned people).

I use a cetaphil cleanser which leaves my face pretty dry, so I was wondering which moisturizor works best for you. I have really oily skin which is probably caused by the dryness that occurs after cleansing my skin.

[Routine help] [Skin concerns] would like some insight on deep CC'S, hormonal acne, and PIH!
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I'll try to keep this brief.Skin type: normal/dryRoutine: Rinse with water morning and night. Rinse with neutrogena naturals purifying scrub nightly. Apply GoldBond hydrating lotion in thin layer.Issues: comedomes, PIH, deep blackheads in cheeks/chin (don't come out with OCM), general irritationWhat I've done to combat: clean pillowcase every night, avoid picking/touching skin (I fail miserably), keep hands clean, eat clean (more water and veggies, less junk). OCM with baby oil 1x weeklyWhich products I own: Stridex in the red box, neutrogena naturals purifying facial scrub, bioré charcoal cleanser, Pond's cucumber facial cleanser, Pond's dry skin creamWhat irritates my skin: CeraVe sensitive AHA cleanser, any product 3 days before period, Pond's dry skin cream (just sits on my face)Most of my breakouts are before/during my period. Also lately I have been noticing that despite my efforts not to touch my face and sleeping on a clean pillowcase every night, I wind up with deep blackheads in my cheeks. If I press my tongue against my cheek you can see the rounded marks of them, and extracting them only damages my skin. Stridex in the red box makes my face like...evenly red? Very shiny and any acne tends to stand out more.I'd like to try pore strips, sheet masks, etc...just need help solidifying my routine. Any help is welcome. Trying to upload an album and it'll be up in an hour or so.

[Product Question] What is in the cerave foaming cleanser that makes it so awesome?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Seriously. I switched to cerave and washed my face once a day at night. My skin got way clearer. Then I added using it in the morning too, and for the past two weeks I've only had one new whitehead. Why is this cleanser so superior to other things I've tried? Is there a specific ingredient that other cleansers don't use? Just curious!

[Acne] [Routine Help] How to get rid of these cystic acne marks/scars and the holes in my face?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey everyone. This is what my cheeks look like: m.imgur.com/461AOyY,eD6Vk4NThe only thing I have been using on my face at night is grapeseed oil to moisturizer and in the morning, aveeno moisturizerI was searching on how to get rid of these acne scars (mostly cystic acne scars since those are the ones that have not been fading at all) and the holes in my cheeks. I saw a lot of people say to use chemical peels and I was wondering: 1. What type of chemical peels are these? And can I do it at home by myself? And 2. Are there other methods that can help me? Possibly natural methods or certain products?Thank you so much :)

[Routine help] Skin cleared up after not using products. Does this mean I shouldn't use anything anymore?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey guys, so I've always liked using cleanser, toner and oil-free moisturiser as part of a daily routine, occasionally exfoliating or using face masks as a treat. I'm 22, drink loads of water and have a healthy veggie diet. A few months ago my skin flared up around the corners of my mouth. I tried several routines and various products that made the rest of my face soft and clear but not the reluctant, angry spots. About two weeks ago I figured I'd leave it alone and just use water. The spots have pretty much disappeared. Just some scars left. But now my face feels less smooth. Is there anything you can recommend me using that means I can kind of exfoliate and moisturise without risking a breakout?

[Routine Help] Trying OCM, are partially out grits normal? Is it possible to massage in oil for too long?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I am trying out OCM. I used baby oil for my first shot, because it's the oil I have the most experience with, and I know my skin won't have an adverse reaction to it.I got a little bit of white/clear grits on my hand, but, mostly, it seemed like grits were rising to the surface of my skin, but not completely coming out. Some of them manifested as more pronounced whiteheads under the skin, and some of them came out a little, but not all the way.I've always heard of grits referred to as being black, is there a difference with white grits? Is this just a non-air exposed grit?I did not pull the grits completely out, because I didn't want to damage my pores, and I don't have any reason to worry about how gross my skin looks tonight.Should I have kept massaging in the oil for longer, until they came out? Is it possible to massage in oil for too long? I went for 12 minutes, and then stopped. Will the "progress" I have made in pulling these grits to the surface stay, or will they go back into my pores? I'd like to think that I can retain some progress and be further along in pulling them out when I try this again tomorrow.I wiped off the oil with a microfiber cloth and called it good. I might try sunflower oil, too, since I have some on hand, and I have used it before and know it won't cause a breakout. Thanks for any advice. I know I have good amount of grit inside my skin, because I can feel them when I run my hand over my face, and always have. I just had no idea there was any way to remove them!

[Skin concerns] red blotchy skin in certain situations..desperately need help?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
So..ever since about 4 years ago (I'm 26) I've been getting red blotchy skin around my face, arms, chest and neck whenever I'm anxious, excited, hot, or just about any emotion. I also get it when drinking alcohol. I think I inherited it from my mom since she gets it from wine..but I seem to get it from everything. Does anyone know if there's anything that can be done? My derm didn't seem to really take much interest in it (I went on accutane for bacne 6 months ago so I talk to her often)Here's a pic of my arm after being in my hot car.http://m.imgur.com/wtKdl41It went away a few minutes after I cooled down.

[Routine Help] Step-by-step simple skincare log to help you keep track of your routine effectiveness and troubleshoot skin problems
Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey guys.I've been around here and /r/AsianBeauty for probably something like two years now, and the problem that I see pop up most often in one form or another is people getting overwhelmed by information and products, trying to put a routine together but not really knowing if anything is working for them, and having problems identifying the causes of new skin problems. It's a totally understandable problem, especially when we're new to the whole skincare thing. One thing that has helped me immensely in being able to identify winners and losers and keep everything on track in my own (uh, lengthy and always changing) routine is keeping a skincare log. I thought it might be helpful to others to see how I put mine together and what I do with it, so I wrote this blog post here to explain. I hope some of you find it helpful! It's definitely something that does a lot for me, and it only takes a minute (if that) a day, and I don't even open it or write in it every single day.Disclosure: The blog post I linked contains no affiliate links and doesn't feature any sponsored products (also is not product-oriented anyway), but other posts on my blog do and are marked with appropriate tags and disclosures.

[Product Question] Nip+Fab glycolic fix extreme pads experience?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
I like nip+fab's regular pads well enough and the extreme version looks enticing, with BHA + lactic acid as well as glycolic acid. I tried the search bar, but there was no first hand experience. Now that they've been out for a few months (where I am, at least?), I was wondering if anyone's tried them and how they like them.

[Personal] I just had a moment...
Beauty Tips For Body Care
...where I was able to pass along some skin care basics (lemon juice and baking soda on you face is terrible; moisturizer doesn't make you oily, not moisturizing makes you oily; big seeds in face scrubs tear up your pores dude; hey, there's this thing called r/skincareaddiction, check it out!) and it just showed me how much everyone on this sub has helped me kick some bad skincare habits. One year lurker and never looking back!

[Acne] Is this Cystic Acne or Something Else?
Beauty Tips For Body Care
These cysts have been along my jawline now for almost two years, I'm 19 and male. Just need some insight on what exactly is going on here. It seems unlikely to me that if this were cystic acne it would remain unchanged for so long.http://imgur.com/FDAIAg3 [1]The other side of my face is completely clear except for one small cyst that showed up the same time as these. These developed over the course of a week or so around two years ago and haven't changed in size, shape, or number at all. They occasionally feel itchy and slightly irritated, but have never hurt and are otherwise not noticeably felt. This is in contrast to the very painful cystic acne I usually develop on my cheeks in the winter.I've never tried breaking any of them, and none have ever drained on their own.My diet is pretty typical, and includes high amounts of dairy. I'm willing to significantly change what I'm eating, but don't really want to if this isn't cystic acne as I'd likely see no improvement. Was prescribed doxycycline specifically for the jawline stuff (can't remember how many mg's) for 3 months 2x. It's been a year since I finished the second session and saw no improvement whatsoever. Cancelled my followup appointment as up to that point I'd been prescribed nearly everything else and knew that accutane was my last option. Recently rescheduled for November anyway.Old routine (back when I had frequent breakouts): Differin in the morning, some kind of Neutrogena wash and 5% BP sort of whenever, and then doxycycline, differin, and tazorac at night.Current routine: BP occasionally.Thanks.*Btw seeing as winter is coming any moisturizer suggestions would be appreciated. Everyone always suggests to me CeraVe, or Cetaphil, one of which gives me severe breakouts and the other burned skin.
