Beauty Tips For Body Care
Background: When I first found SCA, I had two main concerns: acne (cysts), and oily skin. Cysts I have under control - mostly due to finishing puberty and taking good care of my skin, and for awhile, oily skin was less oily due to the fact that duh, dehydrated skin is a thing! However, my battle with seborrhea didn't end there. My skin got better for a little while by using better products and drinking more water, but all of those were rendered ineffective the moment I was in a humid climate. It didn't matter how much water I drank and how my cleanser didn't have SLS - I was still a greaseball about an hour into washing my face.As a teenager I had looked into Accutane some for oily skin, but never had the money to go to a derm. Lo and behold, I am now 21 and have insurance through my adult job, and finally made the decision to go in and ask for a low dose isotretinoin prescription. Please keep in mind that I have used other methods before finally coming to Accutane - tretinoin, peels, AHAs, BHAs - those were all great for marks, scars, and acne, but not for excessive sebum. I have also done excessive amounts of research looking into the consequences of Accutane (my derm was extremely concerned that I would want to get pregnant in the next two years - I have no such concern as I wouldn't want a kid in two years, am on birth control, etc), as well as research into using low dose isotretinoin purely for seborrhea. I printed out this journal article for my derm to take a look at, and despite its small sample size, he agreed that a larger sample size may not have been as easy to measure effects. We had both initially agreed on a dosage of 5 mg/day, but they had run out of 5 mg pills...so currently, I am on 10 mg/every other day for three weeks, then will go back for a check up and blood tests.TL;DR: actual oily skin, went to derm, low dose (10mg/every other day) isotretinoin for 3 weeks to combat it.I will start my first day down below, and will continually update this thread until the end of my three weeks.Day 1: Nov 27 I took it at the end of the day, so not much happened. I did observe that on Saturday my foundation didn't crack or fade as much as it used to, and that my skin took longer to get oilier (about 4-5h with only 1x primer, as opposed to greasy slick by hour 2, with 2x mattifying primers, powder, and a setting spray).
