[Routine Help]From BP Oil Spill to California Drought - My Face is a Natural Disaster!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
After cruising on /r/SkincareAddiction for almost a year, I was fed up with reading and decided to act. (My skin, my choice!) This story begins with sensitive, acne prone, oily/combination skin and an optimistic Redditor:I was just starting out, and the world looked positive and full of hope. I decided on the following routine after careful reading: Cetaphil gentle cleanser, witch hazel (yes, the kind with alcohol - please refrain from smiting until the end of the story), Stridex Max, and Cetaphil PM moisturizer. This routine came easy since I knew most of the products "worked" for me in the past, in that they didn't break me out. But, like a good SCAer, I started with a patch test, waited, incorporated into routine, repeated. The results were slow but improving none the less. Eventually, I my skin became almost completely clear with the occasional two-ish weeks of perfect skin. Two weeks, SCA!?! I thought only celebrities were worthy of perfect skin. And when I begin to tell you how soft my skin was-- Let's just say my lovely fiancĂ©e described it as "vagina soft." swoonThen came winter. The heater off and on, on and off. Almost all night! My once suppled, blimish-free skin began to crack. Nothing like those old Roc commercials. I would find specks of blood on my pillow but could never pinpoint the immediate source. Then came bedtime when I would do my routine. Everything was normal, until I applied a Stridex pad to my face. Unfortunately, I live in an apartment so I'm sure my neighbor's kids have new words to teach their friends. Nevertheless, I grit down and finished my routine. Oh the sweet, sweet immediate relief of moisturizer on my face that smothered, what felt like, flames.SCAers, I know what you're thinking: Surely, after going through hell with the Stridex pad you stopped your routine and focus on the immediate issue of burning, dry skin, right? And give up my acne-free (with the occasional two blemishes here and there) skin!?! What are you, stupid?! A moment of silence as I pay tribute to my stupidity. After almost a week of ignoring all the signs. A full, distracted day of wanting to take my boar's hair brush to my entire face. I realize now there are some things worst then pimples. So, I sit here, slathered in Vaseline, telling you all of my cautionary tale so that you do not make the same mistakes I did. I am welcoming any advice/suggestion that could aid this immediate problem of super dry skin. Despite it all, I love this community and continue to be optimistic about my future skin endeavors.TL;DR: As someone that suffered from oily skin, dry skin is the worst.Edits for simplifying sentences.
