Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've had hormonal acne forever, but it was only one or two deep cystic pimples around my period or when I was stressed. Towards the end of high school it became more severe and painful and frequent. I spent years trying every face wash, lotion, mask, etc., designed for acne. All the at home remedies, Doxycycline, and even Spironolactone last year. I am 23 now and have finally found something that works for me and I wanted to share it with anyone who is at their wit's end...I went back to using the green Stridex box. I have sensitive skin and this helped me so much when I was younger. I stopped when the pimples were more frequent because I thought it wasn't strong enough. Now I know it's plenty effective and doesn't irritate my skin like other things I've tried. If you don't have sensitive skin I'd totally recommend the red box. If my skin is feeling a little dry, I omit the Stridex in the morning and just scrub my face a little with a face cloth in the shower. Just to get any peeling skin off.I was using the Alpha Hydrox 10% facial lotion for almost a year. It helped SO much. It stung at first but I got used to it and it became something I couldn't live without. I actually don't need it anymore but it's great for anyone trying to get their skin to a manageable spot. It isn't really needed after that.I have a prescription for Tretinoin, or Retin-A Micro. I tried it in the past but never had the patience to get beyond the "it looks worse before it gets better" phase. It took about 3 months of using it twice daily, figuring out the best time for me to use it in my routine, and getting past that phase. It is so effective. It doesn't help with the red spots but it shortens the life of the cysts dramatically. I wish I had stuck with it before. In the morning following cleansing (or face cloth-ing) the 10% glycolic lotion, and a toner, I'd use the tretinoin. I'd wait for it to dry, use more toner, and use my soothing moisturizer. At night I put the tretinoin on last.Following the Alpha Hydrox lotion, I'd use a toner. Originally I used Lush's Eau Roma Water, but it was too expensive to maintain but I bought rose water from the store and it works the same. Since I stopped the lotion, I spray the toner on all over my face after cleansing in the morning and apply the tretinoin afterward.Once that dried I sprayed more toner to wet my face and applied Lush's Skin Drink. This moisturizer has saved my face. As soon as I run out my skin breaks out again and it's dry and angry. I ran out for a week and in that time my face was hurting so badly. Of course Lush was waiting on a new batch and were sold out so I had to deal with crying any time I accidentally bumped my chin. But I've been since been reunited with the Skin Drink and my skin is going back to normal. The cysts are down almost to nothing and things are coming to the surface so I'm relieved. So here is my routine before:AM- Scrub with facecloth in shower/use green Stridex afterward- Alpha Hydrox 10% Glycolic Lotion- Lush's Eau Roma Water Toner- Tretinoin to my whole face- More toner once it dried- Lush's Skin Drink- Lush's Jackie Oats makeupPM- Green stridex- Alpha Hydrox Lotion- Skin Drink- TretinoinMy Routine Now:AM- Facecloth in shower/ green Stridex- Let it dry and spray on Rose Water toner- Apply Tretinoin to whole face- Let that try and spray on more toner- Skin Drink-Jackie OatsPM- Stridex- Rose Water Toner- Skin Drink- Tretinoin- And Vaseline only on dry patchesI really hope this helps someone. I have a long way to go to heal my face but it's finally manageable and sometimes I don't need makeup!! I feel more confident and more at ease in my skin knowing there is one less part of my body I need to worry about.Sorry if it was hard to follow, it's difficult to see in this tiny box!
