Beauty Tips For Body Care
Background- this year I'll be 48 years old, and have really been noticing the damage I've done over the years to my skin. I'm an 80's child, so in the summer (I live in the South), I would use cocoa butter or plain baby oil or tanning oil with no SPF. And I haven't always taken care of my skin, and would go to bed without washing off my makeup. I don't have problems with breakouts or redness or sensitivity, but I do have very, very dry skin and lots of sun spots. And my skin made me look very tired and old. I found this subreddit a couple of years ago from doing a Google search on skin care, and it got me motivated to develop a better routine. So I started with adding exfoliation (AHA), better quality moisturizer, oil cleansing, and about 6 months ago a Vitamin C serum and micellular water as a toner after makeup removal. And I do masks twice a week. Finally, I switched my foundation from the compact I had been using since I was a teenager to a liquid one with anti-aging additives. I also will add a small drop of Argan oil to my foundation before applying. Setting spray will keep it all in place even with the oil. Today I went to my hairdresser for my 6 week root touch up (I'm way too young to go gray!), and she asked me what I was doing different for my skin. She said it "looked like porcelain." I've known her for over 20 years and she's never commented on my skin before. She wanted to know what I was doing differently, and when I mentioned Vitamin C serum, she said her dermatologist recommened a Vit C cream that was over $80. I use Timeless that I get on Amazon for less than $20. So thank you for this subreddit and the sidebar. I don't post very much on Reddit at all, even this sub, but I'm a loyal reader. And you might not notice the difference a good skin routine will make, but those around you will. And it's so much better to start when you're young with prevention than to try to repair the damage when you're my age.
