[Product Question] Thinking of Suing Cerave

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have used Cerave PM for years but upon purchasing a new bottle with the updated packaging I began to notice dryness and irritation. I thought nothing of it because the ingredients on the new packaging were the exact same as the old packaging. I have used Cerave PM for years and often received compliments on my glowing complexion. All I used was gentle cleanser and Cerave PM, I was obsessed with it. However, the Cerave PM in the new packaging just seemed "different." I called the company and asked them if they have updated there formulation as both my eyes and skin began to feel sore. They assured me there has been absolutely no change. I thought perhaps it was the weather or something?I continued to use it, my skin and eyes were just getting worse and worse..sore and dry. I called the company again and they assured me nothing at all has changed. I then began to scour the internet and saw a few reviews of others who stated they have used Cerave PM for several years and upon buying the new packaging, they experienced severe irritation like never before. I also had a bottle of Cerave PM in the old packaging and could apply it with zero problems or irritation. It just didn't make sense that the one in the old packaging caused no irritation and the new packaging was so severely irritating. It was at this point that I began to realize I was not alone and I instantly felt frustrated....I kept applying something to my face that was irritating but the company assured me it was nothing. I felt lied to. I noticed that I developed all these flaky white plugs all over my cheeks and chin, it was itchy and dry, my eyes felt so sore and tired. I stopped using the product. I called the company and told them all about my reaction and how several other people experienced the same thing and are positive the formulation has changed. On the review section of Beautypedia for Cerave PM, there were several people who stated that they have used this product for years with absolutely no problem but once they bought one in the new packaging, it caused severe irritation. They received so many of these comments that the Beautypedia team actually contacted Cerave and told them this and Cerave once again continued to maintain that nothing had changed. When I called Cerave and told them about my experience they said we will look into it but I'm positive they never did. When I wrote about my experience on their facebook page, they blocked me.Below is a memo Beautypedia wrote as part of their review for the product:NOTE: As of summer 2015, we were informed by our readers that there has been a potential reformulation of this product. We appreciate your patience while we take the time to thoroughly update this review! Here is the real nightmare….the new version of this product completely destroyed my skin. It has been over a year that I have stopped using it and it has never returned to normal. The allergic reaction was so strong. My cheeks and chin are always covered in these white plugs...when I use something to try and exfoliate them off...they all appear again within 8 hours. They are small white flake like plugs that are stuck in my skin, all over cheeks and chin. I cannot use any sort of steroid because of problems in the past. My main dermatologist thinks the irritation from the product caused me to develop seb derm. However, I have none of the redness or oily skin associated with seb derm. The antifungals he gave me did nothing at all for it.I have no idea what this is and how to treat it. My eyes have been damaged ever since, they are severely dry and sore all the time. My eyelids are stuck together when I wake up. I thought once I discontinued the Cerave PM that all the irritation would completely disappear, but it never did. I don't know how to treat what it did to my skin. I have been unemployed for an entire year.I have seen 15 reviews and counting from people stating that they believe the formulation for this product has changed. I'm sure this product works great for many people. My biggest frustration is that the company did not really seem to care about all these people who have been loyal to the cream for years now suffering allergic reactions. They did not take into consideration that people who have been using the cream for years were reacting to the formulation in the new packaging. They maintained that nothing was different. It was just very negligent. You would think a company would take the issue seriously if there are so many people who are positive that it has changed. Perhaps the company was playing dumb to save face. I emailed Cerave so many times about this issue because I was so frustrated by the whole thing. I have been living in depression because I have not been able to reverse what this has done to me. Does anyone know what could be wrong with my skin? Do you think I would be able to sue them?ThanksHere are just a few of the reviews posted by others regarding the formula via Beautypedia:” This used to be my go to moisturizer, but like lots of other people here have commented, my skin had a very unpleasant reaction! On either side of my nose it's red, inflamed, and has little whiteheads. Something has definitely changed in the formula. Such a shame because it was perfect!’” I have used several bottles of this product with great results. Just purchased a new bottle, and my skin literally hurts. My clear skin now has dry, red, itchy blotches that are flaking. It set my skin on fire immediately after applying it. So sad.”“Not sure if this is my moisturizer anymore. After reading all of the complaints, I think I've found the source of my problems. I have used this PM moisturizer for a couple of years with no problem. Recently, my 65 year old face broke out like a teenager's, with itchy pimples. I couldn't figure out what was up-nothing new in my skin care regimen. I now realize I opened a new bottle of the PM moisturizer just about a month ago and that's when my face broke out. Coincidence? Maybe not. I'm going to stop and see if I clear up!”Here was Beautypedia’s response to one of the comments regarding the formulation change: Beautypedia Team Response: Hey Amanda! Thanks for your feedback. We've been wondering the same thing for months... although the bottles we've seen at stores in our area (Seattle) have ingredients that match what Beautypedia currently has listed, we've gotten reports from many readers that they believe it may have been reformulated. When we've contacted CeraVe multiple times with the concern, they claim that it has not been reformulated, and that the ingredients listed on their site (which match ours) are accurate. Rest assured, though, we are looking into it - we are just hesistant to update the review with anything beyond the note above until we feel confident in what we'd be saying. Fingers crossed we get some resolution soon!
