Beauty Tips For Body Care
After seeing a number of comments on this subreddit indicating that diet and acne might not be related, I wanted to share my story. I'll try to keep this post short and sweet.Since age 15 I have had severe cystic acne on my face, chest, and back. At any given time I would have 20 to 40 inflamed pimples or whiteheads on my face. Probably closer to 100 on my back and shoulders. After trying many different skincare routines besides accutane, I looked into altering my diet. Over the course of 5 years I messed around with the foods I eat and discovered sugar was the main culprit (not including natural sugars found in fruits and veggies). Dairy also seems to have a slight effect as well.My current routine is gently washing with water and a wash cloth twice a day, using a moisturizing sunscreen, and avoiding foods with added sugars and dairy. I probably only get a pimple now once every couple weeks (don't touch your face!!).For those saying I may have grown out of my acne: I have been clear for about a year but tried eating like a "normal" person a couple months ago. My skin got worse than it had ever been. Luckily it only takes about 2 to 3 weeks of being on my strict diet for my face to clear. Let me know you if you have any comments or questions! Hopefully this story can help some who you who may need to clean up their diet.P.S. Skin isn't the only reason you should get your diet in check! I get sick/have headaches and stomach aches a lot less now. I have much more energy and self confidence. Also, I have been able to gain a good amount of muscle (through lifting weights) and stay at a low body fat %, so I look good and feel great!
