[Acne] Tiny pimples emerging where a cyst used to be - anyone else get this?

I had some deep pimples/cysts about a year ago. They've been gone for several months, leaving behind some PIE that is maddeningly slow to fade. But the worst thing is that little pimples and blackheads will pop up in that area with far more frequency than anywhere else on my face. It's like the infection is still there, which freaks me out. Has this happened to anyone else?FYI, my routine involves washing with a basic cleanser, applying a topical retinoid every few nights, applying Paula's Choice BHA liquid every few days or nights, moisturizer as needed, and sunscreen every day.
