[Routine Help] My face looks better when I don't wash it. Do I just need time?

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Posted this but forgot to add the tag, so it got removed. I'm not very good at Reddit so apologies if my other post also shows up since I can still see it?I'm just getting into skin care, and have checked the FAQ but if I missed this somewhere, please let me know!Growing up I never really washed my face. I hated getting my face wet (still do) so in showers I would keep my face down or turned away from the stream. I also rode horses growing up and was outside a lot. Surprisingly I never really had a problem with pimples except around that time of the month, and my skin was never oily or dry. I also never touch my face or let anyone touch it.(I looked it up - I have normal type skin, I think). So about a month ago or so, I decided that since I'm 25 and never took care of myself before, it was time for me to work to look younger for longer. So I started a skin care routine and have been trying to keep it up but I'm not sure if it's actually helping my skin. I looked at the Evaluating Your Routine link in the sidebar but it didn't really answer my question.I added the products to my routine one at a time and spot tested to make sure I didn't have allergies. In the mornings, my routine is:CeraVe hydrating cleanserCeraVe moisturizing creamCVS brand sunscreen SPF30 (I might switch to a different brand, I just wanted to use up any sunscreen I had laying around). In the evenings, my routine is the same sans sunscreen, and I use micellar water to take off my makeup before going through my routine. However, I'm still getting used to remembering to bring my products with me whenever I go to visit my boyfriend, and I always forget. I usually stay with him for a week or so at a time. I feel like my skin is much clearer when I'm not using products although it feels a little rougher, but I'm not sure if I just need to give my skin time to adjust (aka consistency) or if I need to change up my routine a little?I don't know if this is important as well, but it might be worth mentioning. I have mild eczema that I have dermatologist prescribed cream for, and I use only when it flares up. The eczema is never on my face - always on my elbows/forearms/lower legs.
