[B&A][Acne] Long-Term Curology Use: Day 0 to day 1,010 of Spironolactone and Tretinoin for Hormonal Acne

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hello! This album has a photo from every check-in I have made over my time with Curology Some of these are hard for me to look at. I realized I have been using Curology (which was Pocketderm when I started) for almost three years now.The first photos actually came at a good time for my skin; Usually I had more active acne cysts, but at that time many were healing. I had never had great skin in my teens, but around 19 it flared up suddenly, and persisted for two years before I found Pocketderm. I tried everything but couldn't afford a regular dermatologist visit and had no insurance then.I was given Dr. Satur and my first prescription was 50mg Spironolactone and my topical cream was tretinoin, clindamycin, and azelaic acid. I still have the same formula, but with a higher amount of tretinoin. My spironolactone has also been increased to 75mg. I have had side effects from both - Tretinoin has made my skin highly sensitive, prone to flaking, burning, and itching. I can only use it 3x a week, even now. Spironolactone has made me pee so frequently, and I have to take 50mg at night and only 25mg in the morning because I was feeling easily light headed and dizzy.I feel the spironolactone does more for preventing my acne than the topical cream. If I miss more than one dose, I break out. I have gone weeks not using the topical and my spots heal more slowly, but I don't see an increase in break outs. It's incredibly unfortunate that Curology will no longer be prescribing spiro! It saved my skin and my self esteem, to be honest. (I had horrendous PMS that has become much more manageable as well! No more vomiting from the pain or missing work and school.)In October 2016, I was given a new Curology provider, a nurse practitioner named Patti. My skin has been worsening since the start of this year. I have brought up my concerns to her, but haven't been very satisfied with the level of care I received back. I changed my skincare routine like she recommended (removing products Dr. Satur had said were fine) but she really focused on getting me on birth control and drinking spearmint tea, and the progress my skin has made since I started. But that was so long ago, and my skin now is consistently worse than it was for the bulk of my time with them.Anyways, I thought it would be helpful for others to see what long term tretinoin and spironolactone can do for the skin! Overall, I am very happy with the improvements my skin has made and the benefits certainly outweighed the side effects.Edit: The Automod wants my full routine. It's changed over time but here's what I use now:AM: Wash with water, Paula's Choice 2% BHA 1x week, Mario Badescu Rosespray, Hada Labo Gokujun moist, Benton Snail Bee essence, CosRx Advanced Snail 96 essence, LJH Tea Tree essence, Kiehls avocado eye cream, Clinique Dramatically Different lotion (CosRx Snail 92 cream on top if I'm extra dry) Hada Labo Perfect UV gel spf 50PM: Garner Micellar Water, Philosophy Purity cleanser, Mario Badescu Rose spray, Hada Labo Gokujun moist Benton, Snail Bee essence CosRx Advanced Snail 96 essence, LJH Tea Tree essence, Kiehls avocado eye cream, CosRx Snail 92 cream (Benton Steam Cream in winter) Curology 3x a week, applied last
