Beauty Tips For Body Care
I used to go to tanning beds as a teenager and I am forever regretting that decision; it wasn't worth it and with a history of skin cancer in my family it was downright stupid. In my early 20s, two moles cropped up on my legs; one on my thigh and one on my calf. They look relatively normal and haven't changed shape so I put off getting them checked out for a couple of years. Now I am religious about sunscreen, but having those moles was still causing me to have a bit of anxiety even if I was taking all the right precautions. So, at my annual check-up with my derm today, I asked her to take a look at them. She did a full body exam to check for any others and then examined the two on my legs; turns out, they're dermatofibromas. Dermatofibromas are completely benign, and I feel so relieved knowing that I can stop worrying. It was also a huge relief to know that she gave me a thorough examination and that my skin is healthy and happy.I've been seeing a lot of stories here about people who got checked out by their derms and unexpectedly had skin cancer and, while I know those are good cautionary tales, I think those types of stories fueled my anxiety and made me more reluctant to get it checked out. So, even if you're worried about something on your skin, go get it checked out. It very well could be nothing, and then you can let go of any stress and just focus on continuing to protect your skin in the future. I had all of the warning signs of skin cancer; tanning bed use, family history, and skin abnormalities and it turned out okay. Not to say that tanning beds are okay to use, but even if you have some weird marks they might be nothing and it will put your mind at ease to get them checked out.
