Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi /r/SkincareAddiction,I've been battling cystic acne since I was 14 (now 25). I've tried literally everything under the sun to the point where my dermatologist had nothing left to offer but Accutane. I finally tried Accutane 20mg a day for one year (20-21). Things were great then and for a year after. I thought the battle has finally been won until I turned 22 and my acne started coming back again. Looks like the Accutane didn't really work after all. Since my acne is caused by imbalanced hormones, my derm prescribed Sprinolactone. I took 25mg twice a day and my acne was kept under control for the most part. I occasionally got one cystic acne or smaller ones around my period, but nothing like how it was. It started getting bad again last year so he bumped up my dosage and I took one 50mg pill and if I felt I needed to, I'd take an additional 25mg later in the day. Earlier this year I began experiencing very irregular periods. My cycles lasted weeks with only spotting, or I'd have two periods in one month. I knew something was wrong so I got blood tests done. Found out my potassium levels were dangerously high (which is a side effect caused my spiro). It also explained the frequent heart palpitations I experienced. I decided I needed to stop Spiro as I knew taking it long term wouldn't be safe. I stopped taking it in May. I honestly thought that I was good to stop taking it and wouldn't need it anymore as well. Flash forward to now and I'm having the worst breakouts. Every day I'm getting a new cystic acne on my face. I miss not having to wear makeup, but now I don't want to leave my house without it on.I feel very down about this, I feel like the battle will never stop. I'd really rather not go back to prescriptions or birth control as those only caused me problems.Does anyone have advice or recommendations for what to do about hormonal acne? I just started drinking spearmint tea since I read a few posts about that.Skin routine:Morning-Cetaphil CleanserAveeno Clear Complexion MoisturizerBiore Aqua Rich Water Gel Sunscreen SPF50+Aveeno Positively Radiant MoisturizerNight -OCM with Grapeseed oilDouble cleanse with CetaphilStridex Pad (Red Box)Adapalene GelAveeno Clear Complexion MoisturizerAny help would be appreciated. I only have a couple more months under my mother's insurance as well, so I don't think I'd be able to consider more prescriptions as it would only be for a couple months (until I can finally find a FT job that has benefits).
