[personal] I hate unsolicited skincare advice, but I dont want to be rude

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I have a whole host of skin concerns, my biggest being acne. I will sometimes casually mention my skin concern if it's quasi related. For example, sometimes when I discuss why I was dairy/gluten free for a while, I'll admit that it was because I was testing if that was an acne trigger.I am up to here with the armchair dermatologists that spring up whenever I utter the word acne. Any time I mention it (and I never ask for anyone's advice), at least one person will offer their own hackneyed cure for acne. I've received sage advice like "just wash your face" or "seek a professional" or "don't ever eat soy." Most everyone treats me like I've been living under a rock or that I haven't tried anything to cure it. And everyone thinks their cure is the secret formula that will work for everyone. But I can't actually be mad at these people. They don't know me or my journey. They had something work for them and they want to spread their knowledge in the hopes that it may help me. It's not malicious, and they definitely don't know how condescending they sound because it's coming from a place of either innocent ignorance or genuine care. Skincare is the only topic in which I want to yell back at the person that I'm not an apathetic idiot and I don't need their witches brew of a skincare regimen, no one asked. That's been the theme of my holidays. I'm on accutane now so hopefully these are the last holidays I have to hear this kind of stuff. Hope I can keep biting my tongue until then.
