[personal] Relationship between skincare and depression?

Starting a skincare routine has significantly helped my depression and I've read a lot of you reporting the same thing. I want to talk about it!For me, it has given me something to look forward to when I get out of bed, and something to look forward to throughout the day. It's a huge distraction from thinking negative thoughts, and I've been really encouraged by seeing positive results when adding in a new product or technique. The ritual of practicing a physical kind of self care has also improved the way I feel about myself.What about you guys?Edit: After reading through your responses, I think skincare aids depression in two key ways: 1) practicing mindful self care, at a time when you feel like you don't deserve or want care, is extraordinarily helpful; 2) having a skincare routine means giving yourself the kind of structure that depression wants you to avoid -- it means having a plan, which means having something to look forward to the (short and longterm) future for, which means feeling hopeful.
