Beauty Tips For Body Care
How much are we buying this?I've heard it a million times- from my mom, from random women on social media, and even from the red pill (they insist American women age badly because we wear makeup, because apparently nobody in Korea wears makeup, lol). To me, it seems like:1.) a way for people to delusionally rationalize how they look "10 years younger than their age" when in reality, like most people, they probably just look their age and2.) a way for men (and women) to shame women for being "vain". Like some kind of ancient fable: She was so vain that she wore makeup every day, but all her less shallow peers were rewarded in the long run because now she looks ancient and they look 15 when they're 40! JUSTICE IS SERVED!! They're "not like other girls" and now they have the skin of fetuses! For all the women who claim to look so young because they didn't wear makeup, how do they know they wouldn't have aged that way had they worn it? And a lot of these women also tout "Never wearing sunscreen" or "Just washing my face with Dove soap and no moisturizer!" as their "aging secrets" so I'm not inclined to believe them.I can totally see why sleeping in makeup could contribute to acne (which is why I always remove mine- with oil and then with cetaphil) but I actually don't understand, scientifically, how makeup would contribute to wrinkles or loss of collagen. In the short term, powdery makeup can accentuate fine lines because it settles into your expression, but that's not "aging you in the long term." There was a study on identical twins and aging, but makeup wasn't mentioned as a factor either way. I believe smoking, divorce and obesity were mentioned, but never makeup. And playing devil's advocate: assuming you still wear sunscreen, wouldn't makeup provide an extra level of protection from pollutants and UV rays?I've heard this mantra so many times but have found zero scientific evidence to suggest that it's true. If it IS true, I'm happy to forgo makeup on most of my face, but with my visible under-eye veins, I feel like I really really need under eye concealer...can I wear that, or will it turn me into the Crypt Keeper?Oh, and extra but somewhat relevant question: would mascara or brow pencil cause eyleash/brow loss?
