[Misc.] Why do we break out in the same spot if we have an allergy/sensitivity to an ingredient?

This question was brought on when I started using a new face wash. My face looked great! Except on my chin, which is the only place I break out. How is this possible? I don't understand how an ingredient can irritate only part of my face.
