Beauty Tips For Body Care
I recently came across a brand called Skinnies, who are selling sunscreen products with a formula I've never seen before — without water! (OK, I'm aware of powdered sunscreen, but this is a bit different). Instead of water, they're using something called 'organogel' — a gel which forms a thin layer on skin to hold the UV filters in place, preventing migration. Because there's no water, they say you only need to use 1/5 the amount you'd normally use to get the same protection. They also claim it dries super fast, goes on clear, and isn't white or greasy. Sounds pretty good to me!Here's their site: https://skinnies.co.nzThey have a few products, but the one that interests me the most is the Skinnies SPF 50 Conquer (PA++++) — as it has the highest protection rating, highest performance (for sports/exercise), and is 4 hours water resistant. It also has the most interesting ingredient list. Here's the UV filters in this product:Octocrylene (chemical, stable, UVB & UVA2 protection)Zinc Oxide (physical, stable, UVB, UVA1, & UVA2 protection)Tinosorb S / Bemotrizinol (chemical, stable, UVB, UVA1, & UVA2 protection)Uvinul A Plus (chemical, stable, UVA2 & free radical protection)Additionally, the formula contains Vitamin E and Manuka Oil, which have antioxidant properties. They have an SPF30 product too with some different UV filters, and a couple of tinted versions. All the ingredients used are highly rated by Paula's Choice and EWG, independently tested by Eurofins, and suitable for sensitive skin.Their products are developed in NZ but it looks like they ship pretty much anywhere in the world, and have local sites for the US, UK, and Switzerland (the US one isn't currently open for business yet but will be in June — they have an Indiegogo page set up to fundraise: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/get-skinnies-on-get-out-there-new)NZ site: https://skinnies.co.nzUS site: https://gotskinnies.comFAQs: https://skinnies.co.nz/frequently-asked-questionsI am based in NZ, but have no affiliation whatsoever to this brand — I haven't even tried them yet (but plan to soon!)Has anyone else heard of them or used any of their products? I'd be keen to see what people think. To me they sound great, I hate goopy white formulas and have struggled to find sunscreen products that I like, with great ingredients and UV filters. Is there a catch? I don't want to believe I've found the holy grail just yet, but they certainly do look promising...
