Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hi all. I know I’m about to rub r/SCA the wrong way, but I want to share what I’ve been dealing with.Towards the end of 2017, I was desperately trying to get some moisture into my face. This meant reduced cleansing, use of a micellar water usually, multiple gel/hydrating layers, and Vaseline. In January, I started to see patches of tiny white heads pop up in unusual locations. First around the corners of my mouth, then between my eyebrows, and then my forehead. I went to the derm and they gave me antibiotics, and I ended up with a “whitehead” on every single hair follicle in my t-zone.Turns out I had a follicular yeast infection promoted by heavy occlusion.I always had very mild acne, but no other conditions like this. I have it more or less under control, but it is not gone. I have to fight it every day or it comes back; either way, I always have spots. It would be gone if I could be more effective against it (it’s hard to topically treat without nuking my face). I cannot use any creams without messing up my skin.I’m fine, but this has been an expensive, annoying, and embarrassing experience. I’m not telling anyone to give up their glow, but PLEASE be careful with cleaning your skin properly and not going overboard with your layers—especially if you have any suspicions that your skin’s microbiome is out of whack (antibiotics, antifungals, benzoyl peroxide, etc.).Moisturize responsibly, friends.
