[Acne] How can you tell if breakouts after changing to new products are because your skin is being flushed out/ adjusting, vs a bad reaction

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've been told before that changing skincare can make your skin breakout a bit while it settles/adjusts and if it's flushing out the bad stuff, but how do you know if it's because of that or because it doesn't suit your skin/ is reacting badly?I'm 33 and have had skin woes for a long time, and have just changed to new products. Today woke up with a few clusters of new spots and not sure if it's flushing things out, or reacting badly.I had bad skin and blemishes for about 7 years pretty consistently (I'm not sure what the cause is, but think it could be a combination of things. My dad (67) still has adult acne, hormones, and sensitive skin as well.About 2 years ago I went onto the Marina (IUD) and within a 6 weeks my skin was clearer than it has ever been.It was great for about 1 years and a half, and then 6 months ago I started getting breakouts again. My diet has been fairly similar throughout, and I hadn't changed my skincare at the time, so not sure what triggered it.I've had consistent blemishes since and am not sure what to do anymore.I want to go to a dermatologist, and have been saving to get a treatment done. I'm not sure what, and am looking to book a consultation, but I'm expecting that they will say I need a lot more than I can afford. (Based in Australia). I'm also aware that wherever I go they will try to sell me as many of their products as they can that I need to have.( their products are much better than those products from other places, and their products actually will work), but I just can't afford to spend hundreds on the things they will likely say I need and which may or may not actually work.Prior to my skin clearing up 2 years ago, I had been to the doctor on multiple occasions, and and various times been prescribed doxycycline, Differin cream and 3 month course of antibiotics. Non of which have ever made a substantial different in preventing/ reducing blemishes.I'm not sure if I should stick with this knew one for a bit longer or stop using it.Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Thank you!
