[Acne] It took me 30 years, but I got rid of my acne.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I don't have Before and After pictures, sorry, but please bear with me: I have struggled with cystic acne since I got my first period in 1990. I have learned everything about concealers and foundation because there wasn't a single time in my life when I didn't have at least two big cysts somewhere in my face that would show up and say "Hi!" to everyone before I entered a room. It was disgusting.I've been to dermatologists and because of other medications I take they refused to prescribe me accutane. I was put on birth control when I was 12 (waaay before I had any sexual activity) to try to make my skin look better, have been prescribed antibiotics, topical tretinoin, over the counter meds, always with mixed and short term results.About one year ago my GP prescribed me Benzaclyn (benzoyl peroxide and clindamycin), and I was, of course, skeptical. I added it to my routine once a day, which consists of washing + scrubbing + salicylic acid toner + retinol and hyaluronic acid moisturizer. In the beginning I was applying it every day, to the whole face and neck, every single day.I got rid of pimples pretty fast and some old scars also disappeared. This has happened before with other treatments, so I wasn't very impressed. Usually I respond well to new treatments on the first month or two and then my skin gets used to it and doesn't respond anymore. But, happy surprise, the acne didn't come back. It's been over one year and at this point I don't even use the benzaclyn daily, only as a spot treatment. My face has some scarring from 30 years of acne, but it's slowly fading. I have good skin, finally. It's unbelievable. I threw away so much concealer that I don't need anymore. This was life changing for me. I hated having to go out and having horrible pimples all over my face, even if it was just to the office. Now I can go out on a clean, make up free, face, and I feel just fine! It makes me feel so confident!I'm not suggesting that y'all should ask for Benzaclyn prescriptions RIGHT NOW - that's absolutely wrong and you shouldn't do it, I am not your GP! The idea here is that, sometimes, it can take a long time to find exactly what works for your skin, but when you find it, it's worth it. If you haven't found it yet, don't sweat it - it will happen at some point. Being here means you're doing your research and are on the right track!I have been a lurker here for years and learned a lot, and I'd like to thank the community for being supportive on the years before I figured out my own skin. I want to wish you all the best and a wonderful week :)
