Similar to (and inspired by) this post!, I did the math to calculate the value of the Drunk Elephant Acid Trip set compared to the full price options. The products included in the Acid Trip set and the price per ounce for each of the full size products are as follows: C-Firma - $80/oz full size, 0.5 oz. in Acid TripTLC - $90/oz full size, 0.5 oz. in Acid TripBabyfacial - $47.34/oz full size (comes in 1.69 oz container), 0.5 oz. in Acid TripMarula oil - $72/oz full size, 0.27 oz. in Acid Trip Assuming you bought 1 oz. of each of these products, the total would be $289.34. The Acid Trip costs $100. The percentages of the total price for each product are used to calculate the price per ounce in the Acid Trip. C-Firma - 27.65% of $100, $27.65/0.5 oz = $55.30/oz in Acid Trip, compared to $80/oz full sizeTLC - 31.11% of $100, $31.11/0.5 oz = $62.21/oz in Acid Trip, compared to $90/oz full sizeBabyfacial - 16.36% of $100, $16.36/0.5 oz = $32.72/oz in Acid Trip, compared to $47.34/oz full sizeMarula oil - 24.88% of $100, $24.88/0.27 oz = $92.16/oz in Acid Trip, compared to $72/oz full size So that's the math, but I took it a step further. As you can see, Virgin Marula oil in the Acid Trip set is ~$92/oz compared to $72/oz full size (and even further, it's ~$46/oz in the nighttime duo set). So, in order to understand how the Marula oil issue effects the actual cost of the Acid Trip and its value, I decided to do the math to see what the costs/oz would look like if you considered (or imagined) the following scenarios: (1) the Virgin Marula oil was considered an added "gift" to the set (a.k.a it is not included in the price breakdown), and (2) the Virgin Marula oil was priced at it's regular $72/oz value. Virgin Marula oil is a gift (% of total cost ($100) = 0% or $0): In this case, the total cost of 1 oz each of C-firma, TLC, and Babyfacial is $217.34. Doing the same calculations as above: C-Firma - 36.81% of $100, $36.81/0.5 oz = $73.62/oz in Acid Trip, compared to $80/oz full sizeTLC - 41.41% of $100, $41.41/0.5 oz = $82.82/oz in Acid Trip, compared to $90/oz full sizeBabyfacial - 21.78% of $100, $21.78/0.5 oz = $42.56/oz in Acid Trip, compared to $47.34/oz full size When considering the Virgin Marula oil as a *free gift** (which is a big win to begin with), the rest of the products are still considerably cheaper in the Acid Trip set.* 2. Virgin Marula oil is priced at its regular price per ounce: In this scenario, we are imagining that the 0.27 oz of the Marula oil is at the normal price ($19.44 @ $72/oz), and the remaining $80.56 is portioned by cost percentage between the other three products: C-Firma - 36.81% of $80.56, $29.65/0.5 oz = $59.31/oz in Acid Trip, compared to $80/oz full sizeTLC - 41.41% of $80.56, $33.36/0.5 oz = $66.72/oz in Acid Trip, compared to $90/oz full sizeBabyfacial - 21.78% of $80.56, $17.55/0.5 oz = $35.10/oz in Acid Trip, compared to $47.34/oz full sizeMarula oil - $19.44/0.27 oz = $72.00/oz in Acid Trip, compared to $72/oz full size When considering the Virgin Marula oil as *regular priced*, the rest of the products are even cheaper in the Acid Trip set. In conclusion: If you're interested in trying out all of the products, or even if you'd likely ignore the Marula oil, then this is the set for you. If you are not that interested in one of the three others (C-Firma, Framboos, Babyfacial) and may not use it that often, then I would skip it.
