Beauty Tips For Body Care
I saw a dermatologist today and he basically instantly told me that I wasn’t experiencing acne but perioral dermatitis. He told me to stop using every product I am currently using and prescribed me two things and recommended me a sunscreen.Shame on me because I am now of course having so many questions that I forgot to ask him, so I thought I would come here and ask you lovely people for help! I will include pictures of my skin and the products, tell me if you need me to translate anything :)First off, here’s what I told the doctor: I have been having skin issues since I’ve been like 14 (am now 24, female), and even when taking a pill with antiandrogens I was still experiencing skin issues, basically the same as I am having now, the bumps just got a little more hurtful and bigger. I stopped taking the pill in February 2017, and now just started another pill, also with antiandrogens, two days ago.https://i.redd.it/fpowf2q8c4611.jpgMy routine:I was actually quite pleased with my routine in the past few weeks because I felt like I was finally moisturized and my skin started to look a little healthier and better overall, the “acne” still persisted though.AM:Cerave Hydrating CleanserSometimes Thayers Witch Hazel TonerSometimes Cerave Moisturizing CremeA Garnier Sunscreen (I know, probably not the best, but it didn’t break me out or at least so I thought)PM:Oil CleansingCerave Foaming CleanserThayers Witch HazelCerave Moisturizing CremeSo, basically, he told me to stop using all of that and prescribed me two things: first, something that he called a “mask” that I am supposed to apply in the evening over night containing chloramphenicol, ammoniumbituminosulfonate and zinc oxide (as far as I can tell, the first one is an antibiotic?); second, he prescribed an emulsion with 1% metronidazole , which also is an antibiotic I think? I’m supposed to use the emulsion in the morning and the evening, but not in the morning in case I am spending a long time in the sun. So, I guess I am supposed to use this like a “moisturizer”, before I apply the “mask” or the sunscreen? The \"mask\"The \"creme\"SunscreenHe also recommended me a sunscreen, it’s the Eucerin photoaging control CC face sun creme 50+. He said it’s a gel which would be good for my skin because it means no oil?I already read through a few perioral dermatitis threads on here and will continue to do so, but I have a few questions for anyone who has dealt with it as well or who has a few good tips in general! He told me to take off the mask in the morning with baby oil, which I currently don’t have at home and kinda sounds counterproductive? Do you have any ideas what I could use to get it off? Would the Cerave Moisturizing Cleanser be okay?I want nothing more than to have healthy skin and am of course willing to do what the doctor tells me, but I am still scared about how it’s going to be – if my skin gets really dry because I am not moisturizing anymore, will I just have to deal with it? Will it get better? If the perioral dermatitis is gone, am I then “healed” for good as long as I don’t start using any products? Should I actually not use anything but sunscreen, forever? In case you had/have perioral dermatitis, what did/didn’t work for you?Sorry if this was a bit rambly! And please excuse any mistakes :)
