[misc] negative self-talk in help seeking posts

Beauty Tips For Body Care
I've noticed for a while now that in a lot of posts and comments generally that people will put themselves down in a really major way. Other folks in the sub are really good about saying things like "that's not true" and trying to help them see that they're not "ugly" nor "disgusting". But sometimes I do see someone comment even minor things like "can't stop touching my face with my gross, grubby little hands" or cleaning their "disgusting" faces.I just wanted to say that there's nothing gross, disgusting, or dirty about you if you don't regularly wash your face, experience acne, etc. there just isn't. A lot of advertisements say that you need to "clean dirt and grime out your pores" and it's just a damaging over exaggeration of what the issue is and makes people feel bad. Moreover, sometimes i'll see someone post a picture of their skin and talk about how disgusting their skin is....and it looks just like mine. i can't imagine i'm the only one that thinks this is hurtful.i'm not at all suggesting that something be done about this and certainly don't want to control what people say and what they think about their own appearances. that's just up to everyone. i myself have major self image issues and if i wanna talk about how i hate my face today that's my prerogative even if it's mean to myself. but i did wanna see what other people thought and start a discussion about this, because i think everyone can afford to be a little bit nicer to themselves if they can. thanks y'all.
