[Misc][Personal][PSA] Does your skin depress you? My skin did do. These are some thoughts and practices that help me overcome those periods:

Beauty Tips For Body Care
We see a lot of posts on this sub with titles like "I'm depressed because of my skin," or "My skin is making me sad." The hardcore addicts on this sub, including myself, all know this pain. It's horrible, it's depressing for sure, and it's very hard to keep your mind off of it. I go through these periods frequently but have learned to overcome them to some extent:Keep busy. You can only hate your face if you're focused on your face. You never see how beautiful your smile is, how motivating it is to watch your busy hands work, or how thoughtful you look with your nose in a book. Keep busy and not only will your mind be too preoccupied, you will lead a beautiful and productive life. And yes, that means staying off this sub. I compulsive check it too. Trust me, laying off for a while (even a day or two) is good for the soul.Avoid mirrors. When I'm in these phases, I'm obsessive about looking at my reflection. This is a terrible idea and a waste of time and energy. You're only going to hyperfocus on the "bad" parts of your face, like your pimples and scars and enlarged pores. Do your routine and move on.Your ROUTINE. Most of the people on this sub can agree that our routines are very precious to us and an important segment of our day. Perfecting and curating these routines to best suit us is the hobby part of the skincare addiction. So, enjoy it. Treat your face like a precious baby and give it all the nourishment and care it needs. I find that the more slathered in oils and moisturizers I am, the less I focus on my flaws, the more I think of my improvements, and the quicker I see results. E.g. I burned my face a few days ago using a product not suited for my face and have been babying it ever since by piling on my oils, serums, lotions, creams, and occlusives. The results have been awesome and very enjoyable. For people who wear makeup on the daily, you may do what I do: obsessively stare and pick at your face before your morning skincare and makeup routine. Stop that shit. Get out of bed, treat your face, cake your face, leave the mirror alone. The less you handle your face, the smoother your skincare and makeup applications will be.Some things that help me when I go through the low periods. If this helps even one other person, this post will have done its job.
