Beauty Tips For Body Care
I found this sub at a good time. I was in therapy (still am), trying to deal with different nagging issues and manage my terrible stress, and I needed some self-care. I decided that working on my skin would be something I would tackle. I have been dealing with different skin issues since about 12 or 13. Mom took me to the dermatologist for years, but nothing was ever really explained, and I was harsh on my skin, thinking I could scrub away the acne. I tried so many scrips over the years, topical and pills--everything short of accutane. No amazing results. After becoming an adult, BCP's had helped with my skin a lot, so I just washed my face twice a day, and occasionally remembered sunscreen. But that was it as far as routine. Occasionally I would get a wild hair and buy some moisturizer, but whatever I chose would typically break me out. I thought, well, with oily skin, it is no wonder--I don't need no stinkin' moisturizer. Although, at some point in my 30s, my mother scrutinized my face and told me it looked really dry. She asked me if I moisturized. I casually said "no". She was apalled. I shamefully did a little research and found a retinol moisturizing cream to use, and I experimented with OCM. I was not displeased with the results, but I soon fell back into my old lazy ways. Back to therapy. Suddenly, I got it in my head that I needed to stop being lazy and really develop a routine, and I hoped it would help me relax at night. I think I had read an article about vitamin C Serum and wanted to try it because my skin was so splotchy. This was the entrance to the skin care rabbit hole. Somehow I stumbled upon this sub and started reading. I read a LOT of posts , and those led me to other places on the interwebs to read about skin related things. What I love about this sub is that everyday people share their experiences. I get to learn about habits and routines and get real feedback...not only relying on "clinical studies show this..." or some celebrity plugging wonder cream. I am personally terrible about sharing because I tend to diminish my own experiences. However, if people on here did not share, there would not be this wealth of information for me to glean from. I am happy to say that I have stuck with skin care, and have developed a routine that has given me the healthiest skin of my life. I am now in my 40s. I thank all of you for sharing your experiences, as they have helped me tremendously. I had some good luck with Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid SPF 70. Although I am debating with myself on chemical sunscreens. I am trying Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Finish Sun Milk SPF 50+ *I added things into my routine slowly so I had some idea of what each product was actually doing to help, harm,or otherwise. I may go to just Truskin Naturals retinol serum, as opposed to the clear skin formula. I also have other skin problems I am tackling, such as melasma on my neck and kp on various parts of my body. Hada Labo skin plumping gel cream and Gold Bond Rough and Bumpy seems to help with kp, and a little bit on the melasma, though I will likely not really vastly improve the melasma without perhaps azelaic acid, or some kind of laser treatment (which I cannot currently afford). But I can live with it by covering it with make-up.
