[Skin Concerns] How do you patch test for pore clogging?

Hello,​I do generally have acne and clogged pores, so how will I know if a recent product I bought is clogging me out? I want to patch test the product but I don't know how. Shall I just choose one cheek and see if I get a ton of spots on one cheek and not the other? Is it always obvious if a product is breaking me out?​Many thanks
