Beauty Tips For Body Care
https://imgur.com/a/aGxA7m3This is my first post so apologies for any errors. Any tips on getting the photo into the actual post?I've always been interested in skincare and have a pharmacy and medical background but never really focused on a single routine. I've always had fairly average skin, more often than not a pimple on my face but never anything severe. For the last couple of years I've had a lot of trouble with cystic acne at times and almost rash like pimples at other times. I hit the acne with a whole range of acne specific, quite drying products and I'm pretty sure I destroyed my moisture barrier. I've since been diagnosed with a Combined Variable Immunodeficieny (CVID) and Rheumatoid Arthritis which for which I have been I've been on Methotrexate which is an immunosuppressant. I think both of these have had an effect on my skin. I also have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome which affects my connective tissue (i.e. collagen). Essentially I have normal skin that leans a little oily in the t zone with occasionally breakouts around my chin that I think are hormonal. Right now my priorities are staying acne free for the most part, and evening out skin tone and texture.TL:DR Normal skin, some breakouts.Swisse Micellar Makeup Remover I'm a fan of this, simple ingredient list, minimal alcohol. Leave my face clean but not tight. I mostly use this to take off my makeup when I just can't be bothered with my routine (mostly after night shift/double shifts which is a couple of times a month). I buy all my Swisse stuff when it's on sale for 50% which happens frequently enough.Lush Ultrabland Facial Cleanser I know Lush products are not favoured but my face loves this stuff. I think switching to this is what helped repair my moisture barrier immensely. It's pricey and it doesn't emulsify on its own (I use it with a bamboo face cloth) so I'd be interested in hearing recommendations of other oil cleansers. I've also used the Ponds cold cream and the Sukin Green Oil Cleanser but prefer the Ultrabland.Swisse Olive Leaf Cleanser Only $5 when on sale at 50% off, no strong opinion for or against but I prefer the Go To cleanser which is unfortunately much more expensive.Go To Properly Clean I love this but its pricey and only available online so becomes even pricier with shipping.Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Facial Toner This is kind of meh for me. I splurged after having a bad day at work and honestly I wish I'd saved my money. I will certainly use it up but I don't know that it makes my skin feel any better than the Mario Badescu Rose Facial SprayDE B Hydra Gel Splurged on the two DE littles after the same bad day. Not sure I'm noticing much of a difference with this and wouldn't buy a full size.DE C Firma Serum I wanted to try this after not being able to tolerate a few other vitamin c serums and sadly (for my wallet) my skin loves this. I've only been using for about 3 weeks but I feel like some of my uneven skin tone is improving. Haven't decided whether to keep buying the littles to ensure freshness or buy the full-size when I finish this one.Stridex Red Box Using this to try and clear out my visibly clogged pores on my nose and chin. My skin will tolerate this every second day and it seems to help while I'm using it but doesn't last if I stop using it.Go To Transforming Sheet Mask I used to use a Swisee Kakadu Plum serum that was amazing and my face used to glow whenever I used it but they discontinued it :( I bought a box of these to try because they contain kakadu plum, finger lime, tasmanain pepper leaf and niacinamide. I've only used one make so far but liked it and my face did seem brighter after using it. I will keep these as treats before important occasions as they are also pricey.Kiehls Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream I'm not sure how good this is technically but my face seems to like it and it sits better than anything else I've tried under makeup. The Ordinary NMF + HA This is the first decently moisturising moisturiser that hasn't broken me out.Life Flo Rosehip Oil Love rosehip oil but I'm not fussy about the brand. This one was from iHerb and fine. The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution I quite like this, I've worked my way up to leaving it on for about 8 minutes once a week/every 2 weeks, avoiding any actives the same day.Go To Lips! Love this, non petrolatum base helps the dry chapped lips get from Methotrexate.Kiehls Avocado Eye Cream Picked up a couple of samples of this. Seems okay so far, no issues. I'd be interested in eye cream recommendations. I have very dark circles which I've had my whole life so I'm guessing no eye cream will help but I'm interested in doing some preventative anti ageing in the area. I wear contact lenses and have dry eyes so do a fair bit of eye rubbing. Not Pictured - Indian Healing Clay + ACV Mask and Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic Fresh Face Mask I save both of these for breakouts. Clay Mask first and then the following day the Lush mask. The Clay Mask seems to smooth while the Lush mask visibly moisturises and mattifys my face.
