For reference, I am 19 years old and have had awful acne since I hit puberty. I’ve become good at managing it, until these past couple months it’s just gotten out of control. My whole chin and temple area was covered in deep cysts and all I ever wanted to do was wear a paper bag over my head. I got fed up with feeling that way, so I urged my dermatologist to prescribe me accutane and I’ve been on it for a month now, and guys. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made. I’ve still been having breakouts of gross whiteheads because i was using the wrong moisturizer, but the deep painful cystic acne has stopped and the closed comedones that littered my forehead and chin are gone. My routine is super simple now; I wash with Vaniclear, tone with witch hazel, and moisturize with Cetaphil and Neutrogena Hydroboost (side note, why doesn’t everyone use Hydroboost?? It’s hands down the best moisturizer I’ve ever tried). My skin is so smooth and supple and my confidence has skyrocketed.I’m in college, and yesterday I was working on a project with some group members where I had to wear vampire makeup. The girl who was putting the makeup on me said, “You have the softest and smoothest skin I’ve ever felt. I wish I had your skin.” I almost burst into tears. Never in my almost 20 years of living did I think anyone would ever compliment me on my skin. I don’t know. It feels kind of silly to be so giddy over a compliment, but I really can’t help it!!
