[acne] Old pharmacy compounding trick for wound healing.

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Good Saturday morning All,I thought I would share an old school compounding trick that has helped me whenever I get a bout of stress acne and I get a pustule that bursts. I work in a clinical setting now, but one of the first pharmacists I ever worked with shared this with me years ago in retail.Wash handsWash and sanitize a small container (a contact lens case is great for this)Squirt equal parts (a small amount) of hydrocortisone 1% cream OTC and Neosporin or similar into container.Mix with clean spatula or Q-tip. The mixture will separate over time if one is ointment and other is cream (W/O) and will have to be remixed eventually. I believe Neosporin still has a cream presentation, though.Apply to cleaned affected area to kill bacteria AND bring down inflammation. This isn’t meant for long term use, just as needed. But it works well for burst acne lesions as well as other superficial skin wounds. So you could similarly mix them on the back of your (clean) hand for immediate use.I use after the hydrocolloid bandage has sucked out everything it can, and apply every few hours.
