[Misc] Fireside Chat thread: touching base, discussing community and belonging - and plants!

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Hey everyone, and welcome to the Fireside Chat!If you've celebrated, we hope you've had a great Easter, Passover or Mid-Sha'ban. And if not, we just hope you've had a good weekend :)We find ourselves around a crackling campfire - the weather is nice, so we've moved outside. No Nick Offerman this time, but it's pleasant nonetheless. A good place to catch up.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E77jmtut1ZcThe Fireside Chat threads are an informal place for mods and users to interact. Our announcement posts are usually pretty official and practical, and don't leave much room for casual chats. That's why we created the Fireside Chat threads; we'll keep you up to date with what's going on, talk about the sub, give you the opportunity to ask questions, and we'll get to know each other a bit better :)It's been a while since our last Fireside Chat thread - we didn't have much to report on in terms of projects (yet!). But then we realised: that's fine! We can still touch base with you all and enjoy this space of relaxed and pleasant chatting around the campfire. Hearing a hooting owl and the crackling of the logs. Enjoying our time together.Discussion topic: community and belongingWhat I'd like to talk to you about today - so our discussion question - is about community. There are lots of communities, both online and offline, that you might feel part of. A subreddit community like ScA, a discord server, a religious community, a sports team, a theatre club, a non-profit organisation… I'm really curious to know more about how all of us experience these different communities. So our discussion question is: what communities do you feel you really belong to? What does it mean for you to belong to that community? Do you remember when and how you started to feel like you belonged? How did that impact how you felt and acted? It's also possible you participate in a variety of communities but you don't feel true belonging there. If that's the case, what's that experience like? How does it feel to participate in those communities where you don't feel you fully belong? What is the barrier to feeling fully immersed in that community? If you'd like to answer the discussion question but feel uncomfortable to do so publicly (hi lurkers!), I've got you covered - click here for an anonymous google formOff topic chat: plants!I had a great talk last week in General Chat with people about their plants - people were recommending each other plants they might like and it was such a fun conversation, so I thought we'd continue for a bit! Here's the beauty I bought last week, but I thought he was kind of lonely, so here he is with a new friend! I couldn't help myself... Also plants need friends, right?I'd love to know about your plants! Do you have any? Or, if you're like me, have you killed any? I love my spider plants, they survived so much neglect - but not every one of my plants has been that resilient...If you don't own any plants, maybe you like to buy flowers? Or perhaps there a tree in your garden or neighbourhood that you really like? Please tell me about your plants! Bonus points for pictures :)
