[REVIEW] La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5

Beauty Tips For Body Care
Skin Type: Combination, Acne Prone (jawline and under hormonal acne (mild cysts, inflamed papules), light papules around face rarelyPrice: AUD15.99 | USD14.99 | GBP6.50I can usually find this anywhere from 20% - 50% off locally and will definitely be buying it in ‘bulk’ the next time there is a big sale.Pictures: from top left to right, bottom left to right - product packaging, product texture, product finish when spread out, product finish when settled in/lightly patted in.Ingredients - scroll down to the bottom of the page. Love the Panthenol and Madecassoside - anti-inflammatory and soothing goodness!Texture and Smell: This has a pretty thick creamy paste like texture and some may find this a bit daunting when they first squeeze it out of the tube. Never fear! It spread quite well and settles into the skin surprisingly fast and effectively with minimal patting needed (though the process is sped up by doing this). Initially it can look quite greasy and shiny (I tried to capture in the picture above) but if you sheer it out or pat it in it settle to a pretty subtle sheen on the skin. I use this at night so shine isn’t a big deal and I don’t ever find it makes me stick to my pillowcases. It also can have a very slight white cast and I find that you can find some parts stay white if they aren’t spread out.Due to the high amount of zinc, this does have the faintest smell of “spf”. Nothing that I think many would hate and it certainly doesn’t linger. I actually quite enjoy it.Performance:There is a reason that this gets a lot of praise around the skincare subs - it is incredibly soothing, healing, comforting and provides a decent level of moisture to the skin. I first started using this sort of here and there on nights I felt I needed that extra, rich products. It was okay. The real shining moment was when I decided to use it daily while I was on holidays and I noticed a dramatic improvement in my skin! Acne was healing faster, the red marks didn’t seem as red during the day, skin felt supple and hydrated and there was no clogging or breakouts to be seen.I use this as my last step every night now and put a pretty generous amount under my jaw on all my active pimples and then sort of pat it all around the rest of the face. I also don’t rub in the product on the pimples too much and prefer to see that whitecast and excess of product on them. I really do believe it helps the healing of them and have noticed a dramatic reduction in size, pain and also I believe a dramatic speed up in healing time and effectively repairing my skin. I feel that while using this I made a months progress in healing in just one week.I’m a side sleeper so when I wake up I notice there is no residue on my cheeks but a little bit of shine on the t zone. Despite this, my skin still feels plump and hydrated all over and I really feel this is a great mix of having both moisturising and occlusive properties (maybe a ratio of 70/30 respectively?)It says not to use close to the eyes and I’m not sure why but I tend to pat around that area gently just in case it has some adverse effects. I haven’t had any irritation or loss of sight yet, though.Time used: This will be my third tube I am fairly sure and I have been using it for about 6 months now only realising it’s magic in the last month! The tube lasts an okay amount of time, maybe 2 months if I try to be conservative? I definitely wish I could get the larger option locally but very open to any eBay sellers you can recommend!Final ThoughtsI can’t believe I slept on it’s full potential for so long. I really recommend this to anyone who has considered trying it, who is trying to heal their skin/their barrier, who has sensitive skin, who has fussy skin, who has skin in general. I see this recommended a little bit over in r/tretinoin and can honestly say that I really can see why. But don’t let that stop you from using it even if you aren’t on hectic products or treatments!I’m a big fan and a big convert now and don’t think I will ever be without it. 9.5/10 for sure!
