[Sun Care] Are coral reefs affected by sun screen ingredients if you're not at the beach?

I have a pathological hatred of sand so even when I'm in beach towns I don't step foot on the beach, much less swim in the water. Do any of y'all know if ingredients that are bad for coral still enter the ocean, like from face-washing or just generally existing? And does the type of plumbing in one's home (e.g. septic vs. town) or does the proximity to the beach make a difference?
